This study reported that the CHI4A gene was isolated from P. mirifica to validate the CHI4A unigenes obtained from the P. mirifica transcriptomic database (data not shown). This work provides more information about the variation and protein profile of the CHI4A gene for further experiments.

Ebook "Plant developmental biology - Biotechnological perspectives (Volume 2)" focuses on development-related areas, including tissue culture (somatic embryogenesis, microspore embryogenesis, somaclonal variation), plant processes (photosynthesis, seed maturation and seed proteins, fatty acids, vitamins, alkaloids, flower pigments and scent), signalling (amino compound-containing lipids, auxins, cytokinins and light), and molecular genetics of developmental regulation (RNA silencing, DNA methylation, epigenetics, activation tagging, homologous recombination and synthetic promoter engineering).

Recent advances in metabolomics have enabled larger proportions of the human metabolome to be analyzed quantitatively. However, this usually requires the use of several chromatographic methods coupled to mass spectrometry to cover the wide range of polarity, acidity/basicity and concentration of metabolites.

The performance of an original CE-MS interface that allows the in-axis positioning of the electrospray with respect to the MS inlet was evaluated. The variations in the geometrical alignment of this configuration in the absence of a nebulizing gas afforded a significant reduction in the sheath-liquid flow rate from 3 μL/min to as low as 300 nL/min.

Mutation load is expected to be reduced in hybrids via complementation of deleterious alleles. While local adaptation of hybrids confounds phenotypic tests for reduced mutation load, it may be possible to assess variation in load by analyzing the distribution of putatively deleterious alleles. Here, we use this approach in the interior spruce (Picea glauca x P. engelmannii) hybrid complex, a group likely to suffer from high mutation load and in which hybrids exhibit local adaptation to intermediate conditions.

By definition, effect of synonymous single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) on protein folding and function are neutral, as they alter the codon and not the encoded amino acid. Recent examples indicate tissue-specific and transfer RNA (tRNA)-dependent effects of some genetic variations arguing against neutrality of synonymous SNVs for protein biogenesis.

In sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), one paramount breeding objective is to increase grain quality. The nutritional quality and end use value of sorghum grains are primarily influenced by the proportions of tannins, starch and proteins, but the genetic basis of these grain quality traits remains largely unknown.

The various organic acids have screened; like gallic acid, 4-hydroxy benzoic acid, 4-amino benzoic acid, phenylacetic acid, chloroacetic acid, sulfosalicylic acid, sulfanilic acid, chloro benzoic acid, phthalic acid, salicylic acid, cinnamic acid, hippuric acid, 1- naphthyl acetic acid, o-amino benzoic acid, p-TSA, succinic acid, malic acid, and among them sulfanilic acid is a suitable catalyst. The reaction condition was optimized with respect to the solvent, the amount of catalyst as well as the variation of the ketone, aldehyde, and amine substrates.

High throughput sequencing technologies are able to identify the whole genomic variation of an individual. Gene-targeted and whole-exome experiments are mainly focused on coding sequence variants related to a single or multiple nucleotides. The analysis of the biological significance of this multitude of genomic variant is challenging and computational demanding.

Amino acid substitutions due to DNA nucleotide replacements are frequently disease-causing because of affecting functionally important sites. If the substituting amino acid does not fit into the protein, it causes structural alterations that are often harmful.

Deep mutational scanning (DMS) studies exploit the mutational landscape of sequence variation by systematically and comprehensively assaying the effect of single amino acid variants (SAVs; also referred to as missense mutations, or non-synonymous Single Nucleotide Variants – missense SNVs or nsSNVs) for particular proteins.

Variation in lysine content in durum wheat (Triticum durum L.) genotypes under irrigation conditions
The present investigation was carried out to analyze the variation in lysine content in thirty six durum wheat genotypes under irrigation conditions. The cereal proteins are low in lysine one of the essential amino acids that cannot be synthesized by humans and must therefore be obtained entirely from dietary sources.

An experiment was carried out to estimate the genetic parameters such as variability, heritability and genetic advance, for yield, physiological and quality traits in 30 genotypes of groundnut. The genotypic coefficient of variation for all characters studies were less than the phenotypic coefficient of variation indicating the interaction of genotype with the environment.

The aim of this work was to establish the antioxidant capacity and the polyphenolic profile of important medicinal plant, Ficus roxburghii Wall. that could potentially be used in the human and animal diet. The widespread use of herbal remedies and healthcare preparations is described in the Vedas and the Bible. Medicinal Plants have been used for thousands of years to flavor and conserve food, to treat health disorders and to prevent diseases including epidemics.

Substituent constants and quantum chemical parameters were calculated from PM6, PM3, AM1, RM1 and MNDO. Hamiltonians were used to predict the corrosion inhibition potential of nine amino acids grouped under three skeletons. Skeleton I consisted of cysteine (CYS), serine (SER) and amino butyric acid (ABU). Those in skeleton II included threonine (THR), alanine (ALA) and valine (VAL) while those in skeleton III are aromatic amino acids, which included phenylalanine (PHE), tryptophan (TRP) and tyrosine (TYR).
