Studies on the genetic basis for resistance to jassid (Amrasca biguttula biguttula) was done in F2 segregating generation of one promising cross of interspecific cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. X Gossypium barbadense L.) in the year 2015-16. The cross FQT-37 X SB-YF-425 segregated in the ratio of 13:3 for susceptibility and resistant. In the case of resistant type, all the plants were in grade II, implying moderate resistance. This gene action is called as inhibitory gene action.

Screening of sixteen cotton varieties/genotypes against jassid, Amrasca biguttula biguttula (Ishida) was carried out under rainfed conditions during kharif seasons of 2015-16 and 2016-17 at Regional Cotton Research Station, Navsari Agricultural University, Maktampur farm, Bharuch, Gujarat. The results revealed that none of the cotton variety/genotype was totally free from attack of A. biguttula biguttula and categorized as resistant based on population of jassid.

The experiment was conducted during Rabi 2016 at horticultural farm, college of agriculture, Kolhapur. The incidence of leaf hopper (Amrasca biguttula biguttula) was maximum during January, 1st Standard Week (SW) and minimum during February (8th SW). The incidence of white fly (Bemicia tabaci) was maximum during January, 1st Standard Week (SW) and minimum during February (8th SW). Both these insects showed significant negative correlation with both maximum and minimum temperature while a positive correlation was revealed with mean relative humidity.

The bio efficacy of selected bio control agents viz. Metarhizium anisopliae, Beauveria bassiana, Lecanicilium lecanii and Chrysoperla zastrowii against Amrasca biguttula biguttula was studied under insectary, Department of Agricultural Entomology, TNAU, Coimbatore, India during 2014-2015. Three different concentrations viz., 1 x 104 , 1 x 106 , 1 x 108 spore/ml of these each entomopathogenic fungus were tested to evaluate the effective concentration. Among the three concentrations, 1 x 108 spores/ml of L. lecanii recorded the highest mortality of 85.

The incidence of insect pests and natural enemy population was studied at Main Agricultural Research Station (MARS), Dharwad, University of Agricultural sciences, Dharwad. In sunflower ecosystem 14 insects pest and 10 natural enemies (Predators) were recorded during the study. The Amrasca biguttula biguttula (Ishida) population was higher during vegetative to reproductive stage of the crop and peaked at 43rd and 46th SMW respectively, during 2015 and 2016. There was a significant and positive correlation between leafhopper population and maximum temperature.
