This paper applies the homotopy analysis method to study nonlinear free vibrations. The paper has used the homotopy analysis method to find analytical solutions of a nonlinear two-degree-of-freedom system. Analytical results have found the natural oscillation frequencies, the displacement formula of the system are approximately calculated at the 10th order.

An analytical approach for nonlinear buckling of functionally graded graphene platelet reinforced composite toroidal shell segments is presented in this paper. The Ritz energy procedure is executed, and radial pressure– deflection expression is constituted to obtain the postbuckling strength and critical buckling pressure of the shells.

The paper generalizes one practical tool for analyzing the structural dynamics for the high-speed railway bridge based on Cast3M open-source. Compared with the classical approach with the analytical formulation, KD-Railway developed by the finite element method allows defining the structure with complex geometry and considering a different type of structure (truss, cable, hybrid composite) or the structure-soil interaction.

In this study, it is split into two main steps. First, an analytical design is proposed to define the desired parameters with affects of different flux air gaps. Then, a finite element approach is developed to simulate inductances, leakage and fringing fluxes, magnetic flux density and electromagnetic force with different flux air gaps.

The paper analyzes and determines the optimal parameters of tuned mass damper to reduce torsional vibration for the machine shaft. The research steps are as follows. First, the optimal parameters of tuned mass damper for the shafts are given by using the maximization of equivalent viscous resistance method. Second, a numerical simulation is performed for configuration of machine shaft to validate the effectiveness of the obtained analytical results.

A hybrid analytical-numerical solution is proposed to solve the problem of a laterally loaded pile with a circular cross-section in multilayered soils. In the pile-soil model, the lateral load is located at the pile head including both lateral force and bending moment. The single pile is considered as a beam on elastic foundation while shear beams model the soil column below the pile toe.

The scaled boundary finite element method (SBFEM) is a semi-analytical method, whose versatility, accuracy, and efficiency are not only equal to, but potentially better than the finite element method and the boundary element method for certain problems. This paper investigates the possibility of using an efficient high-order polynomial element in the SBFEM to form the approximation in the circumferential direction.

The motion equation of a one-degree-of-freedom system when subjected to earthquakes is usually not solved by analytic methods. This problem can only be solved through the time step method, when integrating differential equations. This paper is devoted to presenting a numerical solution for a seismic analysis problem of a highway bridge pier with high damping rubber bearings under earthquakes.
