  • This paper includes the morphological and anatomical characters of the nutlets of 7 endemic species of the subsection Fragiles of the genus Stachys (Lamiaceae) from Turkey and the systematic significance of these characteristics, using one-way analysis of variance and cluster and principal component analyses. Morphological characters such as the dimensions, shapes, colors, and surfaces of the nutlets were studied using light and scanning electron microscopes.

  • This study provides an identification key to the species of Riccia in Turkey and also gives information about detailed morphological and anatomic characters, reproductive forms, detailed photos of Riccia species and their spores, ecological preferences, and distribution patterns in the Mediterranean, Europe, and Southwest Asia. The number of Riccia taxa in Turkey has reached 27 including R. atromarginata, reported for the first time from Turkey in this study. Additionally, the presence of R. gougetiana var. armatissima and R. trabutiana in Turkey is confirmed here.

  • Rice (Oryza sativa) is the most important staple food crop in India. It ranks second in worldwide production. An anatomical and physiological character of surface of the rice leaf renders a sustainable environment for diversity of phylloplane microorganisms that showed antagonism against rice pathogens.   • Of the total 276 species of class Agaricomycetes collected from Ngoc Linh mountain, Quang Nam province, we identified eight newly recorded species of macrofungi in Vietnam, namely Cymatoderma caperatum, Amanita xanthogala, Chlorophllum brunneum, Chlorophyllum hortense, Hymenopellis megalospora, Psathyrella longipes, Russula cystidiosa, and Serpula lacrymans. The morphologies, anatomical characters were given, additionallysome uses of these fungus species were provided. Among these eight species, two species are edible mushrooms and another three species may be poisonous mushrooms.

  • In this study, relationships among the 15 taxa of the genus Crocus L. distributed in Turkey were analysed using 29 morphological and 4 anatomical characters. Analysis of the data set utilising maximum parsimony criterion with Branchand-Bound search algorithm yielded 32 most parsimonious trees. Bootstrap analysis with the majority rule consensus algorithm generated a consensus tree supporting some branches.

  • Anatomical changes in the root, stem, and leaf of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr. cv. Nazlıcan) plants under drought stress were studied by light microscope and their significance was evaluated by numerical analysis. Some anatomical features related to parenchymatous cells, diameter of tracheas belonging to the root, stem, and leaf; stomata index; and size and average number of stomata and epidermal cells were found to be important characters varying in soybean plants under stress.

  • This study concerns the evaluation of leaf anatomical characters (7 qualitative and 12 quantitative characters) among 26 accessions of the Aegilops L. species. The results of this study showed that the anatomical characters have high variation in the width of stomata, the number of long cells in the adaxial epidermis, the number of short cells in the abaxial epidermis, the number of stomata in the abaxial epidermis, the occurrence of prickles in the adaxial epidermis, and the width of phloem cells.
