The inland aquaculture of shrimp in low saline waters is also widespread in many regions. Owing to its ability to grow and survive in low salinity environments, the pacific white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei has become the candidate of choice for low saline cultures. Remediation techniques i.e. water and dietary modification strategies has been developed to improve the growth, survival and osmoregulatory capacity of shrimp reared in low saline waters.

  • Aquaculture plays a major role in augmenting food production, levelihood and thereby the economy of a country. Andhra Pradesh is the leading state in cultured shrimp production, value and exports. Increasing intensification of shrimp aquaculture, devoid of awareness on scientific farming practices among farmers, spurious seed and water pollution, exerted disease problems. Diseases in shrimp farming are a recurring problem and the future is dwindling and farmers are facing heavy losses.

  • A total of 338 foot swabs were collected from different districts of AP and Telangana state and were subjected to PCR targeting 16S rRNA gene of D. nodosus. Out of 338 samples, 86 samples were found to be positive for PCR suggesting the presence of D. nodosus. Further all the PCR positive samples were subjected to multiplex-PCR for serogrouping.

  • Descriptive research design was followed for carrying out the study. The State of Andhra Pradesh was selected purposively for the study as the investigator hails from the state. As the three magazines selected in the study were monthly publications, the total number of issues selected for the study formed 36 issues of a year of a farm magazine.   • The pathogen is adaptable to adverse environmental conditions of widely fluctuating temperatures and relative humidity. It appears in irrigated low land or rain fed upland rice as well as in submerged or deep water rice. Rice was important crop in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states and losses due disease was also more.   • Twenty three simple sequence repeat markers were used to study genetic relationship among fifty three rice varieties developed from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. All markers were polymorphic among 53 varieties. A total of 55 alleles were produced for 23 markers with fragment size ranging from 60bp (RM204) to 470bp (RGNMS1289). The number of alleles per marker were ranged from two (RM262) to four (RGNMS1776) with an average of 2.39 alleles/loci.

  • Climate change is essentially a long term phenomenon and is supposed to be gradual in its impact for most part. The vulnerability index of different districts was assessed using the long term data of 30 years for Andhra Pradesh state by employing Iyengar and Sudhershan methodology The results of the study indicated that out of the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh, Anantapur district occupies first rank in term of vulnerability and was classified as very highly vulnerable district and East Godavari district was the less vulnerable district.
