  • The excessive use of antibiotics in the livestock feed industry caused inevitable side effects of microbial resistance. Besides this residual antibiotics in animal-derived foodstuff imposed serious health problems for humans. So this study aimed to investigate the potential use of Bacillus velezensis to substitute antibiotics for poultry production.

  • A validated liquid chromatography method employing a fluorescence detector for the determination of ochratoxin A (OTA) was developed with double internal standard and it was applied to ten different poultry feeds. The analysis was performed in an octadecyl silane column using a solvent system [ACN:water:formic acid (50:50:1.25, v/v/v)] by isocratic elution. The flow rate and injection volume were 1 mL min−1 and 12 µL, respectively.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the appropriate level of chicken manure for the green fodder M. oleifera grown for leaf meal production as a supplement into poultry diet to improve poultry product quality (i.e., meat and egg). The experiment was conducted at Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, Vietnam, for two years from 2018 to 2019. The experiment consisted of four treatments (NT) represented by four different levels of chicken manure, namely, 0 tons (NT1), 10 tons (NT2), 20 tons (NT3) and 30 tons/ha/yr (NT4).

  • Heat stress is one of the most challenging environmental conditions affecting commercial poultry. Compared to other species of domestic animals, broiler chickens are more sensitive to high ambient temperatures. They have no sweat glands, a rapid metabolism and high body temperature. Supplementation of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) has been found to improve feed intake, body weight gain, feed efficiency, nutrient digestibility, immune response and antioxidant status in poultry.

  • This increases costs and contributes to phosphate pollution problems. The supplementation of animal feed with phytase enables the assimilation of phosphate in the feed ingredients and diminishes the amount of phosphate in the manure and subsequently reaching the environment (Nasi, 1990). It is against this background that this study is designed to isolate phytase producing bacterium and fungus from poultry faeces and optimize the condition controlling the phytase production.

  • For rapid growing population, production of animal protein source in a sustainable manner is very difficult from conventional protein source under climate change scenario. Insects are the best alternative food source for conventional livestock. Entomophagy is one of the viable option to meet the global animal protein demand. Eating of insects has several advantages over consumption of conventional animals includes nutritional, environmental, social and economical opportunities. Several insect species are reared as feed for poultry and aquaculture.

  • Leptospirosis is an acute, bacterial, anthropozoonotic disease. Some occupations are highrisk group occupations for Leptospirosis e.g. field veterinarian, animal handler, dairy workers, slaughterhouse workers, rice field workers, sugar-cane field workers, sewage workers, and laboratory personnel. Poultry is known to be resistant to Leptospira spp. infection but the feed stuff available at poultry farms which are mostly located in the field attracts wild rodents. So it is important to study the prevalence of Leptospira spp.

  • Food safety and security are among the major problems in the current climate of increasing population. Animal feed safety has become more of a concern since it is a potential route for hazards to reach the human food chain. Quality of feed gets compromised if raw material used in making the formulation is not properly stored and hygienic conditions during processing are not met, thus leading to production of mycotoxin contaminated feed, danger to food chain and safety...

Teosinte (Zea mays ssp. luxurians), African tall (fodder maize) and Harsha (composite) were included for development of CRIDA tillering maize viz., CRTM-2. Single plant of CRTM2 had five effective tillers similar to Teosinte, with a total height of 1223.5 cm, 62.0 leaves and 25.8 filled cobs. CRTM-2 showed an increase of 530.3, 423.7 and 2086.0% over Harsha, 388.0, 315.8 and 2350 % over African tall and 15.5, 34.
