Ebook "Myelinated fibers and saltatory conduction in the shrimp: The fastest impulse conduction in the animal kingdom" includes a section on the formation of the fenestration node and the discovery of a strategy that allows the shrimp to escape its predators by an action of the fastest velocity. The data presented in this volume on the myelin sheath of invertebrates present a new direction for this field and a rich source of information for neurobiologists worldwide.

Ebook "Cryptic female choice in arthropods: Patterns, mechanisms and prospects" offers an essential source of information on how two fields, selective cooperation and individual sex interests, work together in the context of cryptic female choice in nature, using arthropods as model organisms. It is bound to spark valuable discussions among scientists working in evolutionary biology across the world, motivating new generations to unveil the astonishing secrets of sexual biology throughout the animal kingdom.

Ebook "Development and reproduction in humans and animal model species" describes human development including sexual reproduction and stem cell research with the development of model organisms that are accessible to genetic and experimental analysis in readily understandable texts and 315 multi-colored graphics. The introductory account of model organisms selected from the entire animal kingdom presents general principles, which are then outlined in subsequent chapters devoted to, for example, sexual development;...

The Antichrist’s spurious kingship must go so that God’s kingdom may come. In this scriptural light, Richard’s call for a horse to fight the wrong fight to the last corroborates the apocalyptic dimension of a conclusive play fraught with eschatology and full of irony.

An increasing number of studies reported that exogenous miRNAs (xenomiRs) can be detected in animal bodies, however, some others reported negative results. Some attributed this divergence to the selective absorption of plant-derived xenomiRs by animals.

Insects occupy more than 70% of entire animal kingdom and are the most successful group of organism living on earth. They are usually divided into three groups i.e., harmless, injurious and beneficial. A group of injurious insects referred as pests, annually destroy between 6-30% of agricultural harvest in developing countries. These losses become even more significant for stored cereal products than pre-harvest losses, because post-harvest costs are much higher than the cost of production.

Cereals, legumes and oilseed crops are grown over 90% of the world’s harvested area. Together they serve as a major source of nutrients for the animal kingdom. An important constituent of seeds of these crops is phytic acid (myo-inositol 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6-hexakisphosphate; Ins P6). The salt form, phytate, is an anhydrous storage form of phosphate accounting for more than 80% of the total phosphorus in cereals and legumes. In contrast to other organo-phosphate molecules, phytate contains a high phosphate content, which results in a high negative charge over a wide pH range.

Embryonic diapause is a phenomenon characterized by the temporary suspension of embryo development and delayed implantation in the uterus. It is an interesting reproductive strategy that has been frequently exploited across the animal kingdom. Mammalian embryonic diapause is categorized as obligate and facultative and broadly divided into three phases: entry into diapause, maintenance and termination of diapause. Obligate diapause occurs in every gestation of some species, while facultative diapause occurs in others, associated with metabolic stress, usually lactation.

taenoic acid, n-3) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid, n-3) cannot be synthesized by mammals and it must be provided as food supplement. ARA and DHA are the major PUFAs that constitute the brain membrane phospholipid. n-3 PUFAs are contained in fish oil and animal sources, while the n-6 PUFAs are mostly provided by vegetable oils. Inappropriate fatty acids consumption from the n-6 and n-3 families is the major cause of chronic diseases as cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.

(BQ) Tài liệu Extraordinary animals: An encyclopedia of curious and unusual animals is an exploration of those members of the animal kingdom who possess strange and bizarre adaptations that allow them to survive in the most extreme environments, or whose complex lives can only be said to be bewildering. From the tar-baby termite to the blue whale, from the harpy eagle to the naked mole rat, these species reflect the exceptionally broad spectrum of life, showing just how diverse the animal kingdom is.
