A descriptive study was conducted to study the bacterial profile of urinary tract infection in antenatal cases attending a tertiary care unit. The study period was for six months. Totally 246 antenatal women were screened for urinary tract infection. Of them 32 (13 %) were culture positive. E. coli was the most common isolate. Females of 26–30 years of age were most commonly affected, 12 cases (37.5). Urinary tract infection was more common during third trimester of pregnancy.

Urinary tract infection is one of the most frequently seen medical complications in pregnancy. Related to it further a number of complications such as acute and chronic pyelonephritis, hypertension, prematurity, intrauterine growth retardation and increased perinatal mortality. The detection of bacteriuria allows an approach to be made for the prevention of complications in pregnancy at an early stage. In view of the above, the present study was under taken with an aim to detect asymptomatic bacteriuria in pregnancy. Two hundred antenatal women were included in the study.

Toxoplasmosis is a zoonosis caused by Toxoplasma gondii, an obligate intracellular parasite. It can cause significant morbidity and mortality in the developing fetus if the pregnant women get acute infection during pregnancy. This study included a total of 900 patients, attending the antenatal outpatient at Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences and Post Graduate Research Centre, Hyderabad. The blood samples were collected for estimation of Total T3, Total T4 and TSH. 27 patients showed hypothyroidism accounting for 3 % incidence. These patients were in the age group of 17 to 32 years.

The aim of the study is to find out the incidence of Hepatitis B surface antigen in antenatal women of SIMS during the period of 23 months from January 1st 2015 to November 2016. To isolate the bacterial pathogens causing asymptomatic bacteriuria in antenatal women,to study the drug resistance pattern and prevalence of MRSA and ESBL producers. Bacterial pathogens were isolated from 1000 urine samples collected from antenatal women following standard procedures. All the isolates were studied for antibiotic susceptibility pattern using modified Kirby bauer disc diffusion method. Resistant isolates were identified and studied for MRSA and ESBL by various methods. Out of 1000 urine samples culture positive were 118(11.8%). E.
