-
The prevalence of azole resistance in clinical and environmental Aspergillus fumigatus isolates is rising over the past decades, but the molecular basis of the development of antifungal drug resistance is not well understood.

Dermatophytosis is the major health problem in worldwide. The three genera of dermatophytes are Microsporum, Trichophyton and Epidermophyton. Among them, Trichophyton spp are the predominant ones causing infection and also associated with recurrence and resistance to antifungal therapy. The dermatophytic infections affect all age groups. The primary aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of dermatophytosis in SRM MCH & RC between JAN 2017- JAN 2018.

In tropical countries, a huge drain in profitability of animal production sector is attributed to tick and tick- borne diseases (TTBD). Traditional tick control measures are riddled by development of acaricide resistance in ticks and possibility of environmental pollution. Identifying and propagating naturally resistant breeds of cattle in endemic regions is a more efficient method in the long run. Marker assisted selection (MAS) which applies genomic information along with conventional selection in cattle breeding is a probable solution.

Candida species are unusual cause of urinary tract infections in healthy individuals, but common in hospital setting or among patients with predisposing factors. The isolation of Candida from urine is challenging both for clinician and microbiologist as to whether the candiduria represents colonization or urinary tract infection. Species identification of Candida is also important as non albicans Candida are on rise in recent years which are more resistant to antifungal drugs and as a result morbidity and mortality is also increasing.

Candidiasis is one of the most predominant fungal infections that cause a major mortality of the patient. The epidemiology of candida infections have been witnessed a change round the world. We aimed to determine the distribution of candida species isolates from various clinical samples of patients in ICUs and evaluate its antifungal susceptibility to demonstrate the local resistance profile and guiding empirical treatment for clinicians. This study included 714 Candida isolates. Candida species were identified by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry.

Candida species is the only fungal pathogen that causes variety of afflictions that ranges from superficial mucosal infections to life-threatening disseminated mycoses. Oral candidiasis is a common fungal infection caused by an overgrowth or infection due to Candida spp. Candida albicans is considered as the primary etiology of various clinical types of candidiasis including oral lesions. However, in recent years research studies have highlighted the greater recognition of non-albicans Candida (NAC) spp.
