This work reports the surface modification of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers by graft copolymerization to ensure the decoration of homogenous and dense Ag nanoparticles. Two facile and subsequent modification processes resulted in a PAN fiber composite with an intact fibrous structure, sufficiently conductive for antistatic application and antibacterial activity. In the first step, some chemically attractive monomers and monomer mixtures, such as acrylic acid (AA), AA-itaconic acid (AA-IA), AA-acrylamide (AA-AAm), were introduced to the fiber surface by grafting.

The nanostructuring of hydroxyl-substituted diazacrown-ether (DC) by silver nanoparticles was obtained by green synthesis method in order to increase the antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles. The synthesized DC, nanoparticles, and nanosupramolecular complex (Ag@DC) were studied by TEM, powder-XRD, and NMR, IR, and UV spectroscopy methods. The Ag@DC nanostructures were uniform and their sizes ranged from 8 to 18 nm. IR and UV spectra revealed the noncovalent formation of the nanosupramolecular complex.

Today, nanoparticles are effectively used in different areas. Initially, physical and chemical methods were used in the synthesis of nanoparticles. Biosynthesis (green synthesis) has emerged as an alternative to overcome the toxic effects of chemically synthesized nanoparticles. In this study, green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with the leaf extract of Anthurium andraeanum was performed. UV-Vis spectrophotometry, scanning transmission electron microscopy, and XRD were applied to characterize the biosynthesized nanoparticles.

Coordination compounds containing dicyanoargentate(I) have remarkable biological potential due to their therapeutic antibacterial, antifungal, antibiofilm, and anticancer properties. In this study, a new dicyanoargentate(I)- based complex was synthesized and characterized by various procedures (elemental, thermal, FT-IR for complex) involving crystal analysis of the complex. In addition, the biological activity of this new compound on the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme, an important enzyme for the nervous system, was investigated.

In this study, silver nanoparticle (AgNP) synthesis was carried out using Onosma sericeum Willd. aqueous extract for the first time, with a simple, economical, and green method without the need for any other organic solvent or external reducing or stabilizing agent. A variety of AgNPs, all of different particle sizes, were synthesized by controlling the silver ion concentration, extract volume, temperature, and pH. It was determined that the optimum conditions for AgNP synthesis were 1 mM AgNO3 , pH 8, 25 °C, 20 g/200 mL extract, silver nitrate, and extract ratio 5:1 (v/v).

This work successfully synthesizes silver oxide (Ag2O) nanoparticles (Nps) using cow urine. The presence of different biological components in cow's urine may act as fuel for the synthesis of Ag2O Nps by a combustion method at 500 0C. This is a rapid and environmentally benign procedure, which has the added advantage of shorter response times and better control over size and shape.

Evolution of multi drug resistant isolates has become rampant in today’s world. The credit of this goes to the incomplete dosage and irrational use of antibiotics. The human brains are now in search of alternate methods. Use of Silver nanoparticles is one amongst them. In the following study, 50 multi-drug resistant clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa acquired from the intensive care units were tested with antibiotics, AgNps and AgNp-antibiotic conjugates. The conjugates were prepared by impregnating 30 µl of AgNps in sterile plain disks and the antibiotic disks separately.

The present study have been carried out to determine the effect of nanosilver and antibiotics separately and in combination on Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical isolates. The combined effect of the silver nanoparticles with antibiotics was assessed in comparison to antibiotics, with well diffusion method. It was observed that the collective effect of silver nanoparticles with antibiotics was additive. The activity of the three antibiotics: gentamycine. ampicillin, and tetracycline with nanoparticles, against Pseudomonas aeruginosa was shown as percentage enhancement in antibacterial effect.
