The physiological role of lectins in a plant is still not well understood. The overabundant presence of lectins in plant seeds and storage tissues indicated their role in plant development. Plant lectins shows a broad range of activities like antibacterial, antifungal, insecticidal, anticancerous, antileishmanial, antiviral, and anticoagulants. In this review, we aim to highlight the plant lectins classification and their application in various biological aspects.

Nanobiotechnology is an emerging field of science that utilizes nanobased systems for various biotechnological and biomedical applications. The synthesis of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles has attracted considerable attention, as they have high surface area and high fraction of atoms which is responsible for their fascinating properties such as antimicrobial, magnetic, electronic and catalytic activity. The antibacterial activities of TiO2 nanoparticles were studied in Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.

The endophytic bacteria is refers to as interior colonization of plants. Endophytic bacteria or fungi colonize the host tissue internally, sometimes in high numbers, without damaging the host or eliciting symptoms of plant disease according to a widely used. In recent work for the isolation and characterization of endophytic bacteria the medicinal trees was selected from Nakshatra Udyan. There were number of reports of the medicinal components present in the plants being the metabolic products of endophytic bacteria.

Green nanomaterials have gained much attention due to their potential use as therapeutic agents. The present study investigated the production of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from a silver-resistant Bacillus safensis TEN12 strain, which was isolated from metal contaminated soil and taxonomically identified through 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The formation of AgNPs in bacterial culture was confirmed by using UV–vis spectroscopy with an absorption peak at 426.18 nm.

Milk protein fibre is made out of skimmed milk. Main components of this fibre are casein proteins, drawn from the cow’s milk. It is responsible for the white, opaque appearance of milk in which it is combined with calcium and phosphorus as clusters of casein molecules, called micelles. This fiber contains eighteen types of amino-acids extracts that helps in the nourishments of the skin and makes it healthier. Milk protein fibre is a blend of nature, science and technology that has benefits of natural as well as synthetic fibre.

In India, there is a growing interest in donkey milk mainly because of its antimicrobial properties. The aim of this study was to know the microbial profile and to investigate antibacterial effect of raw donkey milk against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). Average values of fat, SNF, cholesterol, proteins, lactose, salt, temperature and pH were 0.67, 8.05, 30.4, 2.95, 4.43, 0.66, 30.83 oC and 7.08 respectively. The total viable count in the neat donkey milk samples varied from 220 to 2080 cfu/ml (918 or 2.96 log cfu/ml on average).

Dahi is highly palatable and easily digestible by human digestive system which contains macronutrients like protein, carbohydrates, fat and minerals like calcium and phosphorus. This study aims to screen the antibacterial activity of dahi which is good source of lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Lactic acid bacteria produce certain antimicrobial substance, which plays important role for the antibacterial activity for most of the milk products.

Poultry production provides the source of protein and contributes an important income for Vietnamese farmers. Among the poultry in Viet Nam, ducks account for 27.3 % of head of poultry and even 55.7 % in Mekong Delta region. Along with the development of rearing ducks, bacterial, viral and fungal diseases emerging in the last two decades caused bad economic effect for poultry producer. Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica act as major pathogenic bacteria in duck. The aims of this study were to investigate the antibacterial activity of garlic Allium sativum against E.

Human saliva plays a pivotal role in digesting food and maintaining oral hygiene. The presence of electrolytes, mucus, glycoproteins, enzymes, antibacterial compounds, and gingival crevicular fluid in saliva ensures the optimum condition of oral cavity and general health condition. Saliva collection has been proven non-invasive, convenient, and inexpensive compared to conventional venipuncture procedure.

From ancient time (over 5000 years) oil crops like Sesame, Brassica, Olea europaea, etc. have given importance for their nutritional, medicinal and food products properties. One of important oil crop belonging to Pedaliaceae family is Sesamum indicum L., is an annual plant and being neglected because of many reasons. India and China are the world’s largest producers of Sesame, The oil content of Sesame seed varies from 28% to 59%. Sesame oil serve as natural sources of antioxidants i.e. lignans which improves flavor and taste and contributes to greater shelf-life of foods.

Defensins are cationic antimicrobial peptides with a broad range of activities against bacteria and fungi. In the present study, the entire coding sequence of codon-optimized Bovine Neutrophil b-Defensin 2 (BNBD2) was designed and placed upstream of Trx coding sequence into the pET-48b (+) vector. Furthermore, the codon-optimized pelB signal sequences were also added to the upstream of BNBD2 for periplasmic localization. The periplasmic sorting of recombinant b-Defensin 2 was evaluated by osmotic shock and SDS–PAGE on the released proteins.
