In the sediment environment around the cages, both the Dam Bay and Hon Mieu farming areas showed the highest rates of antibiotic-resistant bacteria against TET, NIF and RIF had the lowest rate of resistant bacteria. Among the total of 109 strains tested for antibiotic resistance, 2 strains labeled TCBS_HM200 m and SS_HM200 m were found to be resistant to all 5 tested antibiotics. These two strains were respectively identified as Vibrio harveyi and Oceanimonas sp.

Evaluate the effect of bacteria drug resistance profile on the success rates of debridement, antibiotics and implant retention. Methods: All early acute periprosthetic infections in hip and knee arthroplasties treated with DAIR at our institution over the period from 2011 to 2015 were retrospectively analyzed.

Otitis media is a major health problem and occurs with high incidence and prevalence in both developed and developing countries. This study was undertaken to determine etiological agents of the otitis media and their antimicrobial susceptibility patterns. Ear swabs collected from clinically diagnosed otitis media were subjected to microbiological investigations. Their antibiogram was determined by Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method. Out of 248 ear swabs processed 198 (81.8%) samples showed growth of various bacteria. 113 (53.3%) gram positive and 99 (46.

The results of the antibiogram showed that all of these HPS were multiresistant bacteria. The percentage of isolates resistant to 7 types, 6 types and 5 types of antibiotics was 33.33%, 28.6% and 23.8% respectively. Resistance rate was highest forty losin (91%), followed by tilmicosin (81%), tulathromycin (62%), enrofloxacin (62%), lincomycin/spectinomycin (57%), amoxicillin (52%), florfenicol (48%); ceftiofur (10%) and doxycycline (5%).

Helicobacter pylori is one of the most common infectious bacteria in the world that causes gastric diseases leading to cancer. The increase of multiple antibiotic resistance rates of H. pylori have been reported worldwide. Thus, development of novel drugs is urgently required. Piper betle has many therapeutic values in traditional medicine. In this study, therefore, we investigated antibacterial activity of P. betle extracts and their fractions against a H. pylori strain isolated in Vietnam.

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia causes opportunistic infections and is an emerging opportunistic pathogen. The rate of infections due to these bacteria has increased in recent years and so is their resistance to antimicrobials. Thus, the present study was conducted with an objective to identify Stenotrophomonas isolation from various clinical samples and to study its antimicrobial sensitivity/ resistance pattern which will guide clinicians in prophylactic antibiotic therapy.

Unnecessary antibiotic prescription to patients with upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) has led to the increase in antibiotics resistant bacteria rates. In this study, we evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of QuickVue® Dipstick Strep A test (QV-SAT) in children presenting with acute pharyngotonsillitis and its effect on antibiotic prescribing.

To identify bacterial contamination of cellular phones used by healthcare workers (HCWs) and to investigate antibiotic resistance patterns of recovered isolates. In addition, we assessed the possible risk factors for contamination of mobile phones. Mobile phones were sampled from HCWs across inpatient, outpatient and intensive care wards in Mansoura Emergency Hospital. Isolated bacteria were identified and subjected to disk diffusion test to detect their antibiotic resistance patterns. Sampled mobile phones had a contamination rate of 90.4% (P= 0.00).

Urinary tract infection is one of the most common bacterial infections worldwide and is defined as the bacterial infiltration of otherwise sterile urinary tract. This includes both the upper and the lower urinary tract including urethra (urethritis), bladder (cystitis), ureters (ureteritis) and kidney (pyelonephritis). Common uropathogens are Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas spp. and Proteus mirabilis. These infections have risk of high recurrence rates and increasing antimicrobial resistance among uropathogens has enhanced economic burden.

Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is an important nosocomial infection in mechanically ventilated patients at intensive care unit (ICU). The administration of accurate and timely initial empirical antibiotic therapy is essential to reduce the morbidity and mortality from Ventilator-associated pneumonia. Initial empiric antimicrobial therapy for VAP greatly depends on the type of causative pathogen and its resistance pattern. During the six months study period, 196 patients received mechanical ventilation.
