Klebsiella spp. are opportunistic pathogens which can cause severe infections, are often multi-drug resistant and are a common cause of hospital-acquired infections. Multiple new Klebsiella species have recently been described, yet their clinical impact and antibiotic resistance profiles are largely unknown.

Antimicrobial resistance is becoming increasingly important in both human and veterinary medicine. According to the One Health concept, an important step is to monitor the resistance patterns of pathogenic bacteria. In this study, the antimicrobial susceptibility patterns and trends of bacteria isolated from stray cats, hospital-admitted cats, and veterinary staff in South Korea between 2017 and 2018 were investigated.

Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (SP) and Staphylococcus aureus (SA) are common colonizers of companion animals, but they are also considered opportunistic pathogens, causing diseases of diverse severity. This study focused on the identification and characterization of 33 coagulase-positive staphylococci isolated from diseased pets (28 dogs and five cats) during 2009–2011 in a veterinary hospital in Spain in order to stablish the circulating lineages and their antimicrobial resistance profile.

Mycoplasma (M.) hyopneumoniae, M. hyorhinis and M. hyosynoviae are significant pathogens for the porcine industry worldwide. The aim of the present study was to determine the antimicrobial susceptibility of six key antimicrobials (tylosin, tilmicosin, tylvalosin, lincomycin, tiamulin and valnemulin) routinely used for treating infections caused by these pathogens.

Salmonella is an important zoonotic pathogen, and chickens are one of its main hosts. Every year, Salmonella infections pose a serious threat to the poultry industry in developing countries, especially China. In this study, a total of 84 Salmonella isolates recovered from sick and healthy-looking chickens in central China were characterized by serotyping, MLST-based strain typing, presence of potential virulence factors, and antimicrobial resistance profiles.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a significant threat to human health globally. Diseases caused by AMR are getting more challenging to cure due to the increasing rate of resistance of microbial pathogens. Drugs formulated with antimicrobial peptide (AMP) can be applied to treat these diseases. AMPs are found naturally within organisms, especially amphibians, and is related to the high adaptability of defence mechanisms against various pathogens and predators in the environment.

The MIC value of compound 30 against Enterococcus faecalis, Listeria monocytogenes, and Bacillus cereus was 8 µg/mL. A computational study for prediction of ADME and drug-like properties (solubility, drug-likeness, and drug score) as well as potential toxicity profiles of compounds 2–40 was performed using the Molinspiration online property calculation toolkit and Osiris Property Explorer. As most of our compounds meet Lipinski’s rule of five, they promise good solubility and permeability.

The microbiology and the susceptibility patterns of infected total knee arthroplasties (TKAs) vary depending on demographic, local antimicrobial stewardship, and surgical factors. We wanted to compare the recent microbial profile and antimicrobial resistance pattern in revisions due to infections after primary TKAs in Sweden and Lithuania.

Curculigo orchioides and Curculigo latifolia (Hypoxidaceae) have been widely used as traditional medicines in Indonesia and other Asian countries for antihyperglycemic, aphrodisiac, antioxidant, and antimicrobial treatments. This work aimed to determine the distribution of secretory structures and metabolites. Metabolite profiling approach of the plant organs was determined by UHPLC-QOrbitrap-HRMS.

Plasmids play an vital role in driving the rapid global spread of antimicrobial resistance and adaptation to changing ambient conditions. It has been suggested that the presence of plasmids can pose tremendous impacts on the host physiology. However, little is known regarding the contributions of carbapenemase-encoding plasmid carriage on the physiology and pathogenicity of hypervirulent K. pneumoniae (hvKP).

Osteomyelitis is the infection and inflammation of the bone. Inappropriate use of antibiotics and multidrug resistance has raised the morbidity and mortality rate in chronic osteomyelitis. This study aims to determine the bacterial profile and antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of chronic osteomyelitis with special mention to various resistant mechanisms. Samples from osteomyelitis cases were aerobically cultured and isolates from culture positives were identified by standard procedures. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was done by Kirby Bauer disk diffusion method.

The present study was conducted to determine and to compare the microbial population of ATM and computer keyboard within the University of Port Harcourt and also to determine the role of plasmid and resistance in Staphylococcus sp isolated from the high touch areas. A total of 70 swabbed samples was collected and cultured on different media and the organisms were identified using its colonial, morphological biochemical characteristics. The identified bacteria were subjected to antibiotic sensitivity test using the disc diffusion method.

The aim of this study is to determine the antimicrobial resistance profile patterns to 15 antibiotics and heavy metals (Zn+2, Cu+2 and Cd+2) by Pantoeaagglomerans bacteria. The (MIC) of the heavy metals was varied from 200 µg /mL to 2200 µg/mL. The results showed that the bacteria were resistant to Zn+2, Cu+2 and Cd+2, considering the MIC values compared with the strain Escherichia coli K-12 used as control. P.

Blood stream infections are very common in paediatric age group and are one of the common causes of morbidity and mortality. Septicaemia gradually leads to serious consequences like shock, multi organ failure, DIC etc. Timely identification of causative pathogen by blood culture (gold standard) is important. Antibiogram also helps us to elevate consciousness on resistance problems and recognise prospect to decrease the use of inappropriate antibiotics. The study was undertaken to evaluate major bacterial isolates causing septicaemia and their antibiogram pattern.

Snake bite is a major public health concern which can cause bacterial infection along with envenomation. The infection may be due to the bacteria present in mouth of venomous or nonvenomous snake which may contaminate the bite site during biting. In the present study coagulase negative Staphylococcus species from the oral cavity of two Indian cobras were isolated and identified and were screened for its biofilm forming ability using bentonite clay as a substrate.
