Bacterial biofilms can initiate chronic infections that become difficult to eradicate. There is an unmet need for effective therapeutic strategies that control and inhibit the growth of these biofilms. Herein, light sensitive mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) with photothermal (PTT) and antimicrobial combined capabilities have been developed.

The sensitivity of some pathogenic bacteria used as test organisms to the new compounds 1–3 was determined. 1 showed appreciable antimicrobial activity with the diameter of inhibition zones ranging from 11 to 18 mm. 1 was active against the two multidrug resistant bacteria Acinetobacter baumannii and Staphylococcus aureus. Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of compound 1 were recorded for all the tested bacteria using the fluorescein diacetate method and the recorded MIC values ranged from 4 to 6 µM.

The newly synthesized cyclotriphosphazene cored coumarin chemosensors 5, 6, and 7 were successfully characterized by 1 H NMR, 31P NMR, and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Additionally, the photophysical and metal sensing properties of the targeted compounds were determined by fluorescence spectroscopy in the presence of various metals (Li+, Na+, K+, Cs+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ba2+, Cr3+, Mn2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Al3+, Hg+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Ag+, and Cd2+). The fluorescence titration results showed that compounds 5, 6, and 7 could be employed as fluorescent chemosensors for Fe3+ ions with high sensitivity.

Klebsiella is an opportunistic bacterial pathogen of man and animals known for presence of diversity of Anti Microbial Resistance (AMR). The present study was undertaken to isolate and study the anti-microbial resistance in Klebsiella isolates from cattle and buffaloes. Sixty (60) samples, comprising of 33 mastitic milk and 27 diarrhoeic faecal samples were collected aseptically from cattle and buffaloes. From these 60 samples, 11 (18.33%) Klebsiella species were isolated and identified on the basis of cultural, morphological and biochemical characteristics.

Lower respiratory tract infection (LRIs) is very common both in terms of community-acquired infection and hospital-acquired infection. Sputum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) are the most important specimens obtained from patients with LRI. The choice of antibiotic with which to treat LRI usually depends on the antimicrobial sensitivity of bacteria isolated from sputum and BALF.

The present study was conducted to determine and to compare the microbial population of ATM and computer keyboard within the University of Port Harcourt and also to determine the role of plasmid and resistance in Staphylococcus sp isolated from the high touch areas. A total of 70 swabbed samples was collected and cultured on different media and the organisms were identified using its colonial, morphological biochemical characteristics. The identified bacteria were subjected to antibiotic sensitivity test using the disc diffusion method.

The aim of this study is to determine the antimicrobial resistance profile patterns to 15 antibiotics and heavy metals (Zn+2, Cu+2 and Cd+2) by Pantoeaagglomerans bacteria. The (MIC) of the heavy metals was varied from 200 µg /mL to 2200 µg/mL. The results showed that the bacteria were resistant to Zn+2, Cu+2 and Cd+2, considering the MIC values compared with the strain Escherichia coli K-12 used as control. P.

The present study was carried out to detect the sensitivity pattern and prevalence of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) at tertiary care hospital, Surendranagar. Total 1776 Clinical specimens were studied. All the isolates were identified by standard microbiological procedures like gram staining, colony morphology on solid culture media and biochemical reactions. Antibiotic sensitivity testing was done for all isolates by modified Kirby Bauer disk diffusion method. Total 194 Staphylococcus aureus were tested for MRSA by Cefoxitin disc diffusion test...

Vitamins are essential for various biological responses in the human body and various researches indicated its role in immunity. With water soluble vitamins, B complex is being the most commonly prescribed supplements in clinical practice. This study was undertaken to find out in vitro effect of water soluble vitamin B complex against antibiotics commonly prescribed for respiratory infections caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae. 50 isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae were isolated from sputum samples and their antibiotic sensitivity patterns were performed.
