Enterococcus faecalis and E. faecium are prevalent pathogens in community and healthcare settings, often resistant to multiple antibiotics. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of virulence factors, drug resistance, and genetic determinants in clinical isolates in central Vietnam.

The aim of this research is to explore the application of natural biopolymer chitosan for the purpose of incorporating fragrance oil into automotive fabrics and its antimicrobial properties relevant to automotive interior textiles. Chitosan was selected for this study for its film forming ability and inherent antimicrobial attributes. 100% polyester automotive fabrics were used in this study, as 100% polyester is predominant fibre used for automotive interior textiles.

This history of antimicrobials is marked with impressive discoveries, the majority of which have their origin in natural products. However in this work, the antimicrobial activity of β- nitrostyrenes and related compounds of synthetic origin is reviewed and investigated with a particular focus on the influence of fluorine functionality. Various fluorinated β-methyl-β-nitrostyrene compounds were prepared, their minimum inhibition concentration in cultures of Gram positive, Gram negative and a fungus and their lipophilicity was determined.
