Antioxidant activities of guava

The rainy crop is of inferior quality, infested with fruit flies and do not keep well, whereas the winter crop produces a better fruit quality, fetch a premium price and has a long shelf life. Hence rainy season crop is regulated to next winter season by pruning. Pruning at different timings have shown different effects on the growth, flowering and yield parameters of the crop. It‟s essential to standardize the pruning time in order to get crop with higher returns.

The present study was planned to investigate the possibility of blending different fruit juices for preparation of blended wine and to observe its effects on physico-chemical, sensorial and microbiological quality. During the preparation of wine three ratio of different concentration of guava and noni were used by keeping the grape juice concentration constant, because it has more fermentable sugar compared to the others which was easily fermentable for yeast to convert them into alcohol. The blended samples along with control one was allowed to ferment for period of ten days.

Guava (Psidium guajava L.), a tropical plant, is used as food and medicine to cure certain illnesses. This study aimed to examine changes in physiological indices, phenolic contents, and antioxidant activities of two guava cultivars, cv. Dong Du and cv. Dai Loan, during ripening. Guava fruits were harvested at four different stages, namely mature green, color turning, ripe, and overripe.
