  • Wilt and root rot diseases of chickpea caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri and Macrophomina phaseolina are serious biotic constraints for chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) production. These are most important and widespread soil- and seed-borne diseases of chickpea grown where the climate is relatively dry and warm.

  • Biological control represents an important approach to manage plant diseases. Blights of leaf, panicle and fruits caused by Alternaria alternata and the wilt caused by Fusarium solani are important diseases of litchi. Hence, as an alternative to chemical fungicides, biological control by Trichoderma spp. to manage pathogens of litchi was explored. The aim of this study was to isolate native Trichoderma spp. from litchi orchard ecosystem and to evaluate antagonistic potential and its biological fitness so as to develop a commercial formulation for field application to manage litchi diseases.

  • The rampant uses of chemical pesticides by developing countries not only pollute the soil, also problem to environment and human. The current scenario is pollution of soil contaminated with heavy metals(HMs). Contamination of soil bad impact on both yields and crop qualities leads to decrement of agriculture productivity.

  • Trichoderma is one of the common fungal biocontrol agents being used worldwide for efficient management of various foliar and soil borne plant pathogens. Unlike chemicals, the establishment of these biocontrol agents in the targeted niche requires support even after their application. Two Trichoderma species (Isolate 2 and Isolate 5) were isolated from paddy and groundnut rhizospheres respectively.

  • The experiment was carried both in in vitro and in situ during 2017-18 at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Allahabad to evaluate the efficacy of Trichoderma isolates against Pythium sp. Under in vitro condition the results revealed that Trichoderma sp. (isolate 5) effectively inhibited the radial mycelial growth of Pythium sp. (71.66 %). Under in situ conditions Trichoderma isolates were tested against the damping off (Pythium sp.) disease of radish.

  • Intensive pesticide application caused damaged of natural balance in agricultural land. Purpose of the study is to evaluate frequency of pesticides application and their impact presence of fungi at local shallot plants in Oloboju village, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi. Almost all of local shallot farmers was used synthetic pesticides controlled pests and diseases with high, medium and low of their frequency applications.

  • Bio-controlling of potato foliar pathogens could be an alternative and eco-friendly management. Therefore, in this trial, the antagonistic potential of some bio-controlling agents (BCAs) of Trichoderma spp. (Trichoderma asperillum, Trichoderma longibrachiatum and Trichoderma harzianum) and Bacillus spp.

  • Trichoderma species are commonly used as biological control agents against phytopathogenic fungi and some isolates are able to improve plant growth. In this study, the effects of seven Trichoderma isolates from Madhya Pradesh was examined in chilli for enhancing seedling and plant vigor via two way introduction methods (inoculating seed with Trichoderma as seed treatment and also seed treatment with three foliar sprays). Different isolates of Trichoderma spp. significantly influenced the root length, shoot length and number of leaves of chilli at seedling stage.

  • Stem rot of rice (Oryza sativae L.) caused by Sclerotium oryzae Catt. is found to occur frequently in Manipur infecting all cultivated lowland rice cultivars and become a major concern in rice production. Local strains of Pseudomanas fluorescens and Trichoderma collected from rice fields of Imphal East and Imphal West districts of Manipur were screened for their ability to control S. oryzae and production of different biocontrol mechanisms under laboratory conditions. Further, combined application of talc formulations of selected strains of P. fluorescens IE 62 and T.

  • An attempt was made to study the different modes of action of the promising Trichoderma spp. from banana rhizosphere collected from different regions of Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Nagaland. The results from the present investigation revealed that all the potential Trichoderma spp. produced IAA, NH3, siderophore and HCN, though at different levels however, the promising Trichoderma spp. were not able to solubilize phosphate on solid medium containing insoluble inorganic phosphorus source.
