This paper describes the extracion and structrure evaluation of four compounds including laetanine (1), icariside E3 (2), (-)-pinoresinol (3) and maltol O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4) from an aqueous extract of the leaves of Phoebe tavoyana (Meissn) Hook. These compounds were isolated based on thin layer and column chromatographies. Their chemical structures were determined by analyses of their ESI-MS, 1D-NMR and 2D-NMR spectral data, and compared with those reported in the literature. This is the first report of compound 2 and 4 from the genus Phoebe.

Evaluation of anthelmintic efficacy of Nicotiana tabacum against gastrointestinal nematodes of goats
The present study was planned to evaluate the anthelmintic efficacy of crude powder (CP), crude aqueous (CAE) and crude methanolic (CME) extracts of Nicotiana tabacum leaves against common gastrointestinal nematodes of goats using three in-vitro tests viz. adult motility test (AMT), egg hatch assay (EHA) and larval paralysis test (LPT) and one invivo test using faecal egg count reduction test (FECRT). AMT was conducted against freshly collected adult Haemonchus contortus...

In present study Vitex negundo leave’s extract was used to assess the antibacterial activity on cotton fabric. Extraction of phytochemicals was carried out using different solvents like ethanol and aqueous. Total phenolic content (TPC) results revealed that TPC of Vitex negundo leave’s extract were highest in case of ethanolic extraction as compared to aqueous. It was observed that mild to moderate antibacterial properties were present in ethanolic extract as compared to aqueous extract. Clear zone of inhibition was observed on cotton fabric against E coli and S. aureus.

A versatile technique was implemented for the synthesis of silver nanoparticle using aqueous extract of leaves of Gymnema sylvestre. The reduction of silver nitrate to silver nanoparticle was confirmed by UV-Vis spectrophotometer showing a typical resonance (SPR) at about 390nm which is specific for ag NPs. In FT-IR analysis the strong band peak at 3355cm-1 in aqueous extract is vibration bands, which may be due to overlapping of amine N- H stretching bands.
