  • Physical and mechanical properties of seven ancient clay brick samples of Kathmandu valley consisting of quartz, feldspars, spinel, margarite, muscovite type of mica mineral and hematite were studied using ASTM standards. All the brick samples used in this study have the water absorption, apparent porosity and bulk density in the range of 10-28 percent, 17-33 percent and 1.2-1.8 g/cm3 , respectively, while the compressive strength of all the brick samples is found to be in the range of 5-23 MPa.

  • This study aimed to exploit laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, enhanced by nanoparticles (NELIBS), as a fast, sensitive and low-cost technique, to correlate the elemental composition of recent and ancient bovine bone with the elemental composition of the fodder that has been fed to the cattle throughout their life. Biosynthesized silver nanoparticles (BS-Ag NPs) were used to enhance the emission intensity of the spectral lines in the LIBS spectra of contemporary and ancient bovine bones and fodder samples.

  • The result of this research shows that the founded and developed cities in Safavid Iran, specially expanded on Silk Road in Shah Abbas I’s reign (996-1083H.), played the role of producer, distributer and exporter in North, Center and South of Iran.   • Comparison of the sizes of burnt rice seeds from archaeological sites in Northern Vietnam indicates that rice seeds mainly belong to the round plump (short round) type, which includes summer glutinous rice and field glutinous rice. These findings suggest that rice became a popular crop in the life of ancient Vietnamese as early as 3,000 years ago, and was widely distributed in the North of the country.
