High-volume fly ash mortar is considered a "green" material, a sustainable development solution for the construction industry, in which the fly ash replacement Portland cement content is over 50%. However, this material has the major disadvantage of slow strength development, especially at an early age, which limits its applicability.

This study aims to investigate the long-term mechanical properties and durability of cementitious composites (CC) with low polypropylene (PP) fiber content and local river sand. The CC samples were prepared with different water-to-binder (w/b) ratios (0.20, 0.25, and 0.3), low PP fiber content (0.6% by mass of binder), locally available river sand, and fly ash (FA) sourced in the Mekong Delta region, corresponding to the mixture name WB20, WB25, and WB30, respectively.

Engineered cementitious composite (ECC) creates many potential civil engineering applications due to its outstanding ultimate tensile strain capacity (normally exceeding 2%) compared to conventional concrete and fiber reinforced concrete. The high tensile ductility of ECC is mainly influenced by fiber characteristics.

The recycled steel fibers from waste steel cables have properties suitable for enhancing the load-bearing capacity, impact resistance, and shrinkage reduction of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC). The use of a high content of fly ash in SCC reduces production costs and is environment friendly by minimizing the amount of cement in the mix. This article presents the experimental research results on the influence of the content of recycled steel fibers on the properties of high-fly-ash SCC.

This study uses densified mixture design algorithm (DMDA) to design the mixture proportions green mortars incorporating fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS). Three green mortar mixtures with various paste contents were designed using the DMDA method while a control cement-based mortar mixture was designed using the conventional method for comparison.

The Quaternary Zarloukh Bentonite –Tuff (ZBT) deposit occurs within the Hemrin South Mountain, northern Iraq. The ZBT deposit occurs as depression-filling exposed on the erosional surface of the siliciclastic Pliocene Muqdadiya Formation and covered by an overburden of recent sediments. The thickness of the studied industrial bentonite bed is ~80−100 cm, occurring at the bottom of these depressions, covered by ~3−4 m thick bedded volcanic tuff, which also contains many 10–12 cm thick bentonite layers along its bedding planes.
