In points of annual crop farming and close to residential the contribution of inorganic fertilizers to the total concentration of nitrate was estimated, based on the δ 15N-NO3 values, to be as high as more than 60% and the contribution of water waste was around 35-40%. This is the first time isotopic signature of nitrogen-15 in nitrate (δ15N-NO3) was applied as a tool to assess and identify sources of the nutrient in aquatic environment.

Land assessment is a specific requirement for the land use. Land assessment results provide the information on land types and natural conditions (land map units) so that we can evaluate the suitability of the land area for agricultural and non-agricultural use. In agriculture, appropriate crops for the land area are usually designed based on the land assessment data.

In rainfed agriculture, rainfall has a crucial role to play for suitable crop planning. One hundred nineteen years (1901-2019) annual rainfall data has been analysed to find out yearly meteorological drought occurrence at Damoh district shows that maximum rain 1874.6 mm is in1990 and minimum rainfall is 614 mm in 1993. Annual average rainfall is 1196 mm.

Pineapple is an important fruit crop and West Bengal is the leader in pineapple production in India. In West Bengal the commercial cultivars is Kew under Smooth Cayenne group which suitable for processing purpose. Table purpose cultivars like Queen is being grown as home stead condition in some pockets of West Bengal. Mauritius cultivar (Queen Group) of pineapple was introduced first time in West Bengal from the south India and its growth performance under the integrated nutrient management practices was assessed in this present experiment.

Studies on genetic variability with the help of suitable biometrical tools such as coefficient of variability, heritability, and genetic advance become indispensable in breeding programmes for tangible results of desired values. To give a better insight of ancillary characters under selection, correlation and path coefficient analysis are the tools, which are being effectively used for determining the rate of various yield components in different crops, leading to the selection of superior genotypes.

Agro-land Suitability is a process of evaluation of agriculture land, which measures the degree of appropriateness of agricultural land for the use of particular crop that can best support that crop to be grown and maximise the yield. The aim of this study was to find the suitable land for rice so that yield of rice get maximise and fulfill the demand of growing population. The study was carried in Bhal region of Gujarat, where agriculture is preferred as mainstay but production get fluctuated due to improper selection of cultivated crop.

Rice is one of the most suitable crop for saline soils although it is usually considered moderately sensitive to salinity. In this study, the phenotypic response of ten rice genotypes with salt stress at EC = 12dsm-1was assessed under hydroponic condition at seedling stage. The rice genotypes CSR-13 and CSR-30 showed highly tolerance to salinity; genotypes NDRK-5088, NUD-2, NUD-3, FL478 and CSR-90IR-2 were recorded moderately salinity tolerance and varieties NDR-359, IR-29 and IR-28 showed susceptibility to salinity.

The choice of parents in a breeding programme for hybridization is one of the most critical considerations, since the selection on the basis of performance does not provide clear information. Combining ability, play a significant role in crop improvement, since they help in characterizing the nature and magnitude of genetic effects governing yield and component traits, besides pinpointing the promising parents to be used in the creation of genetic variability for eventual use in development of suitable varieties in self-pollinated crops.
