  • The effect of the asymmetric damper on the vertical acceleration of the driver’s body, suspension deflection and tire dynamic load were studied thoroughly in order to provide suggestions for choosing damping parameters while building a bus’s suspension system. The vehicle model with three DOFs exposed to random road profiles was employed to investigate the dynamic responses for both two cases of linear symmetric and two-stage asymmetric dampers.

  • The influences of two-stage asymmetric damper on the dynamic responses under transient road inputs in range of different vehicle velocities were investigated. This study’s purpose is to get full understanding of the dynamic behavior of the bus using the two-stage asymmetric damper.

  • RNA-directed DNA methylation (RdDM) initiates cytosine methylation in all contexts and maintains asymmetric CHH methylation. Mature plant embryos show one of the highest levels of CHH methylation, and it has been suggested that RdDM is responsible for this hypermethylation.

  • Asymmetric capacitors are gaining attention due to their hybrid nature with higher power and energy density compared to individual batteries or capacitors. Electrochemical and structural characteristics of flexible graphite in 40% H2SO4 electrolyte are investigated using electrochemical and microscopy techniques. There is a correlation between intercalation of electrolyte and the enlargement of interlayer spacing and electrochemical response. Conditions favoring planar orientation are electrochemically less active and more stable in such corrosive electrolytes.

  • The present investigation was conducted at Horticulture complex, Department of Horticulture, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur (M.P.) during the Rabi season in 2018-19 under open field condition. The experiment was laid out in complete randomized block design asymmetrical (factorial) with five levels of genotypes and three levels of vermicompost doses with three replications.

  • Our study examines the asymmetric responses of food prices to oil prices in Indonesia as a net oil and food-importing country. We apply non-linear autoregressive distributed lag to investigate the responses of food prices to oil prices. Due to the different impacts of oil price on sub-component of the food price index, this study decomposes the general food prices index into 11 sub-components food price indices. The oil prices asymmetrically affect food prices but incomplete pass-through except the preserved fish prices.

  • The debate on the nexus between energy consumption and economic growth continues unabated with divergent views on the direction of the relationship. This is partly due to the sources and patterns of energy consumption across different countries, differential characteristics of the economies, and differences in the methodologies employed. Again, the mixed and inconclusive results from prior cointegration tests might have arisen from the assumption of symmetry when, in actuality, the response of economic growth to energy consumption may be asymmetric.

  • This study investigates how Vietnamese commercial banks respond to countercyclical monetary policy. At first glance, the empirical findings suggest the asymmetrical response of Vietnamese commercial banks to countercyclical monetary policy to be competitive and monetary authority successfully utilizes monetary policy instruments to achieve its objectives. In light of the known characteristics of the Vietnamese economy, the empirical results may be alternatively interpreted as the consequence of graft maximizing behavior of bank management operating in a corrupt and opaque environment.

  • This study aims to investigate whether the costly short-sale theory is responsible for the volume-return relationship in Taiwan’s ETF market. Through a model specification, we demonstrate that trading volume and returns for ETFs and their underlying assets exhibit an asymmetric relationship with significantly larger volume associated with negative returns than with non-negative returns, a finding that verifies the prediction of the costly short-sale hypothesis.

  • Utilizing forty-five years of daily London gold price fixes, this paper finds the presence of dual long-memory processes in the 10:30am fix and the 3:00pm price fix utilizing ARFIMA-FIGARCH and ARFIMA-FIEGARCH models, respectively. This research proves that the return and volatility of the London Gold price fixes have predictable structures and does not conform to the weakform efficient assumption of Fama (1970). This study also suggests that the London gold price fixes do not exhibit leverage effects and asymmetric volatility response properties.

  • Diadenosine polyphosphates (ApnAs) act as extracellular signaling molecules in a broad variety of tissues. They were shown to be hydrolyzed by surface-located enzymes in an asymmetric manner, generating AMP and Apn-1 from ApnA. The molecular identity of the enzymes responsible remains unclear. We analyzed the potential ofNPP1, NPP2, and NPP3, the three members of the ecto-nucleotide pyro-phosphatase/phosphodiesterase family, to hydrolyze the diadenosine polyphosphates diadenosine 5¢,5¢¢¢-P 1 ,P 3 -triphosphate (Ap3A),...

  • Neurons are highly polarized cells composed of two structurally and func-tionally distinct parts, the axon and the dendrite. The establishment of this asymmetric structure is a tightly regulated process. In fact, alterations in the proteins involved in the configuration of the microtubule lattice are fre-quent in neuro-oncologic diseases.

  • This paper examines the velocity and asymmetry of the response of bank interest rates to monetary policy shocks. • The delayed response to economic shocks or to changes in monetary policy which characterize the ináation expectations and the interest rate dynamics is also explained by the existence of this asymmetric information set between private agents and monetary authorities. Hence, Huh and Lansing (2000) and Erceg and Levin (2001) are two models which demonstrate how an ináation scare problem could produce a sharp increase of long-term interest rates, as for the Volcker disináation period of the early 1980s and the 1987 ináation scare episode.

  • As, in accordance with the acting banking regulations in Bulgaria bank are required to take collateral, the prior is that, in the case of proper screening, there would be a positive association between bank lending and the fixed capital ratio. Size is another variable that would allow to test the credit channel hypothesis. The prior is that a credit squeeze is more likely to affect smaller firms. Several variables reflect the specificity of bank lending in a transitional environment.
