  • Nowadays, supercapacitors have been among popular electrochemical energy storage devices in modern life. Plenty of active materials have been investigated and developed to meet the increasing demands for high-performance supercapacitors. In this study, we introduce a facile chemical synthesis route in combination with a subsequent calcination process to fabricate the oxide/hydroxide composites of nickel (Ni) and copper (Cu) as active materials for highperformance asymmetric supercapacitors.

  • Ebook "Progress in enantioselective Cu(I)-catalyzed formation of stereogenic centers" is not intended to provide a comprehensive review of all copper-catalysed reactions, but focuses on the most recent scientific advances in copper(I)-catalysed asymmetric synthesis. For this purpose, I have selected seven topics, most of which cover research conducted during the period 2010–2015. Several chapters deal with copper(I)-catalysed addition of organometallics to allylic substrates, β,β-disubstituted Michael acceptors and carbonyl groups.

  • Ebook "Phosphorus chemistry I: Asymmetric synthesis and bioactive compounds" are dedicated to various topics in organophosphorus chemistry. The first volume concerns biologically-related topics (phosphinopeptides, phosphinic acids, prodrugs) as well as P-asymmetric compounds (also called P-stereogenic, P-chiral, etc. – there is still some intense discussion about how to name this field!).

  • Ebook "New organocatalytic strategies for the selective synthesis of centrally and axially chiral molecules" discusses the use of asymmetric organic catalysis for the direct enantioselective synthesis of complex chiral molecules, and by addressing the many aspects of both vinylogy and atropisomerism, it appeals to researchers and scholars interested in both areas. Organocatalysis is a relatively modern and “hot” topic in the chemical community; it is constantly expanding and its use has been extended to interesting areas like vinylogous reactivity and atropisomerism.

  • Ebook "Hydroformylation for organic synthesis" should give a taste of the high level of refinement reached nowadays by hydroformylation. We present this “old” reaction to an audience of organic chemists who may or may not be conscious of its potential for synthesis of complex molecules. However, we are sure that those who are not aware of this potential will be convinced after reading these chapters.

  • Ebook "Asymmetric synthesis of bioactive lactones and the development of a catalytic asymmetric synthesis of α-Aryl ketones" addresses two fundamental areas in contemporary organic chemistry: synthesis of natural products and catalytic asymmetric synthesis. During the course of this work we discovered dual stereo control, which is significant because it allows the configuration of a new stereo centre to be controlled by a simple change of proton source.

  • The asymmetric synthesis of α-(heteroaryl)alkylamines was accomplished by employing a diastereoselective nucleophilic 1,2-addition of lithiated aromatic heterocycles to aldehyde SAMP-hydrazones, followed by BH3·THF or SmI 2 promoted removal of the chiral auxiliary. The CBz or benzoyl-protected amines were obtained in good yields (40%–78%) and excellent enantiomeric excesses (ee = 88%–99%). The methodology can be applied to the synthesis of highly enantioenriched α-amino acids (ee = 90%–99%).

  • This mini-review examines the recent advances in umpolung strategy, devised originally by Corey and Seebach. Although numerous stoichiometric variants have been published to date, this article covers just the catalytic C-C bond forming reactions due to their major benefits such as atom economy, less pollution, and workable simplicity. In the context of umpolung, the studies are evaluated under 3 main titles: enzyme, N -heterocyclic carbene, and cyanide ion catalyzed reactions. In particular, enzyme and NHC catalyzed reactions mainly involve asymmetric applications.

  • Novel chiral bisoxazoline ligands based on norbornadiene were synthesized and used for the asymmetric Henry reaction. Various aromatic aldehydes were converted into chiral β -nitro alcohols with high yields and moderate to acceptable enantioselectivities under the optimized reaction conditions. The short and efficient synthesis of bisoxazoline ligands, the flexibility in ligand design, coordination to a large number of transition metals, and excellent enantioselectivity in many reactions make these ligands indispensable in asymmetric catalysis.
