Asymmetry

The high demand for Davao pomelo and its suitability to the local climate in the Philippines have given rise to expansion potentials and provided possibilities in curbing poverty levels in the agricultural sector of the region. In order to design intervention projects and policies, the present study investigated the pomelo industry in Northern Mindanao covering specifically the product flow and challenges in the industry.

This thesis is divided into six chapters. The current chapter has introduced the thesis. Chapter 2 discusses the background of the institutional features of the Indian IPO market, including the grey market. Chapter 3 (Study 1) introduces an integrated conceptual framework of information sharing, with and without allocation discretion to underwriters. Chapter 4 (Study 2) applies signaling theory in the Indian IPO market setting to understand the effect of the information asymmetry between IPO investors.

This thesis aimed to identify the approaches with the most academic impact and to explain them in greater detail. Hence, models of each category were chosen and compared. The non-parametric models were represented by the historical simulation, the parametric models by GARCH-type models (GARCH, RiskMetrics, IGARCH, FIGARCH, GJR, APARCH and EGARCH) and the semi-parametric models by the Monte Carlo simulation. The functional principle of each approach was explained, compared and contrasted.

Triangular international relationships are difficult to manage because every action produces simultaneous reactions from the two partners. It is more difficult to predict simultaneous reactions, and if an unexpected and undesirable result occurs it is more difficult to correct. While each side pursues its own interest, managing triangular uncertainties becomes a major concern. The Vietnam-China-United States triangle is especially complex because of its asymmetries, though it has some basic similarities to the general X>Y>Z asymmetric triangle.
