  • Ebook "Essentials of oceanography (Fifth edition)" was written to provide an interesting, clear, current, and reasonably comprehensive overview of the marine sciences. It was designed for students who are curious about Earth’s largest feature, but who may have little formal background in science. Oceanography is broadly interdisciplinary; students are invited to see the connections between astronomy, economics, physics, chemistry, history, meteorology, geology, and ecology—areas of study they once considered separate.

  • In ebook "Biosphere origin and evolution" Modern natural science shows that the infancy of life on Earth experienced prebiotic evolution and included the emergence of primitive self-reproducing biologic forms and their systems. The subsequent coevolution of inorganic environment and biologic systems resulted in global propagation of life over the Earth and its enormous diversification. Diverse living organisms colonized the land, water, and atmosphere, as well as upper layers of the lithosphere, thereby forming the biosphere.

  • Wet periods are evidenced by dark olive green mixed lithology (sandy, clay, and silts) and high values in MS and log(Sr/Ca). On the other hand, dry periods are associated with light olive green clayey mud lithology and high values in log(Ca/K). We relate the wet periods to negative North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO–) and the dry periods to NAO+. Additionally, all wet periods are related with time of low solar activity and dry periods, except Dalton Minimum, are related with periods of high solar activity.

  • This study sheds light on self-selected loan groups formed under a microcredit group-lending program and estimates how and the extent to which post-determined group-related factors reflecting the group atmosphere and rivalry among the group members affect the economic achievements of the loan users. Based on data from Maharashtra State, India, this study finds that social homogeneity and monitoring among members work as building blocks to increase the household income of a loan user, while fairness and frequent meetings with other members work as stumbling blocks.
