The synthesis of novel, symmetrical, tetrasubstituted manganese phthalocyanine complexes bearing 4 hexylthio, 2’,3’,4’,5’,6’-pentafluorobenzyloxy, 2’,3’,5’,6’-tetrafluoro-4’-hexylthio-benzyloxy, and 2’,3’,5’,6’-tetrafluoro-4’- pentoxy-benzyloxy units is reported. The new compounds have been characterized by using elemental analyses and UV-Vis, FT-IR, and mass spectroscopic data. The electrochemical properties of the manganese phthalocyanine complexes were investigated by cyclic and square wave voltammetry and the nature of the observed redox processes was studied by spectroelectrochemistry.

New derivatives of 2(3),9(10),16(17),23(24)-tetrakis-(6-methylpyridin-2-yloxy)phthalocyanine (Pc) (2b, 2c, and 2d) were synthesized and their structures were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1 H NMR, and high-resolution mass spectrometry. The spectral results were in line with the proposed structures. The photodegradation of Orange G (OG) dye in DMSO by the Pc derivatives was investigated. The compounds showed relatively high photodegradation rates that increased with increasing size of the central atoms.

We investigated the crystal structure and electronic properties of Bismuth tungstate Bi2WO6 by first-principles calculation based on the Density Functional Theory. The calculated electronic density of states confirmed that Bi2WO6 possess the semiconducting properties with the band gap of 2.198 eV. The contribution of each atomic orbital to electronic densities of states was evaluated from the partial densities of states.
