This paper introduces an Automatic Code Grading System named AutoChecking, tailored for evaluating code submissions in various programming languages at the university level.

This paper describes initial work on Deep Read, an automated reading comprehension system that accepts arbitrary text input (a story) and answers questions about it. We have acquired a corpus of 60 development and 60 test stories of 3rd to 6 th grade material; each story is followed by short-answer questions (an answer key was also provided).

We demonstrate how supervised discriminative machine learning techniques can be used to automate the assessment of ‘English as a Second or Other Language’ (ESOL) examination scripts. In particular, we use rank preference learning to explicitly model the grade relationships between scripts. A number of different features are extracted and ablation tests are used to investigate their contribution to overall performance.
