This paper describes a new congestive heart failure (CHF) treatment performance measure information extraction system – CHIEF – developed as part of the Automated Data Acquisition for Heart Failure project, a Veterans Health Administration project aiming at improving the detection of patients not receiving recommended care for CHF.

Many countries require hospitals to implement medication reconciliation for accreditation, but the process is resource-intensive, thus adherence is poor. We report on the impact of prepopulating and aligning community and hospital drug lists with data from population-based and hospital-based drug information systems to reduce workload and enhance adoption and use of an e-medication reconciliation application, RightRx.

The world is experiencing an evolution of Smart Cities. The assessment identifies the strengths in the health system of Uganda and also the challenges that the Ministry of Health, with development partners, the private sector, and civil society, will need to address. System strengths include the participatory nature of health sector governance, the use of evidence generated locally and internationally to inform policy-making, improved collaboration between government and development partners, and the increase in the number of potential service delivery points across the country.
