  • The catalytic activity of poly(N-vinylimidazole), a biocompatible and biodegradable synthetic functional polymer, was investigated for the synthesis of oximes as an efficient, halogen-free, and reusable heterogeneous catalyst. The corresponding oximes were afforded in high to excellent yields at room temperature and in short times using the planetary ball mill technique.

  • Three botanicals viz. Neem (Azadirachta indica), Garlic (Allium sativum), Onion (Allium cepa) and a chemicals carbendazim(treated) were used in vivo (in field) at 10 per cent and 0.1% concentration. To check the disease intensity of web blight in mungbean. The minimum disease intensity and maximum disease control were recorded in garlic(value) followed by neem, onion, Trichoderma viride, T. harzianum as compared to treated and untreated check. The yield (value) and 100-seed weight were also recorded maximum in garlic (value) followed by neem, onion, Trichoderma viride, T.

  • An experiment was conducted during Kharif 2014 to 2016 at ARS, MPUAT, Banswara. The objective was to estimate avoidable losses due to defoliators in seed yield of soybean on four varieties viz., JS-335, JS-93-05, JS-95-60 and RKS-24.The semilooper population varied from 1.21 to 3.96 larvae/mrl on different soybean varieties.

  • An experiment was conducted for two consecutive years during rabi season of 2014-15 and 2015-16 to manage the onion thrips using three treatment modules viz., M1- IPM module, M2- Farmers’ practice and M3-Untreated control. It has been observed that the IPM module was the best in achieving the maximum leaf growth and bulb yield in both the years (2014-15 and 2015-16) followed by farmers’ practice module.

  • An experiment was laid out with two treatments viz., unprotected and protected plot with plot size of 100 m2 each and further each treatment was divided into 13 quadrates with 30 X 10 cm spacing in Randomised Block Design (RBD). Results revealed that the avoidable reduction in plant height, number of branches per plant, pods per plant, number of seeds per pod due to insecticides application is 19.14, 19.78, 20.70 and 17.80 per cent respectively and a significantly higher yield was obtained in protected plots i.e. 1028 kg ha-1 , while, comparatively low yield i.e.

  • Fresh seed dormancy in bunch type groundnut has a significant influence on pod yield, oil and protein quality. It is required to avoid economic loss in the form of in-situ germination during unpredictable rainfall at maturity. A study was carried out using 32 bunch type groundnut genotypes and 5 groundnut cultivars to identify fresh seed dormant genotypes. Analysis of variance revealed that significant genotypic differences for germination percent.

  • Viral diseases are one of the major factors threatening crop production worldwide. It is estimated that about 15 percent of global crop production is lost due to various plant diseases, and phytopathogenic viruses are thought to cause more than one third of plant diseases. Viruses such as TYLCV, PRSV, CMV, BBTV are some major virus epidemics which cause heavy losses in horticultural crops. Management of plant virus diseases have acquired great importance in the realm of Plant Pathology and call for effective management against them.

  • Present field studies were conducted during the Rabi season of year 2015-16 at Regional Research Station, Rohtak (Haryana), India, to assess the yield losses due to mustard aphid in various Brassica spp. (B. juncea, B.napus and B. rapa) sown under early and late sown conditions. The avoidable losses in terms of seed yield varied from 9.26 to 17.48 per cent, found lowest (9.26%) in HNS 0901 whereas, highest (17.48%) in BSH 1 under timely sown conditions. These losses ranged from 20.11 to 32.62 per cent under late sown conditions, found lowest (20.11%) in HNS 0901 although highest (32.

  • Agriculture is the cornerstone of Indian economy and a major part of agriculture in India is rainfed. The uncertainty and uneven distribution of rainfall and loss of water through runoff, which leads to low and unstable productivity of crops due to moisture stress in critical stages of crop growth. So it becomes essential to adopt in situ soil moisture conservation measures for sustainable crop production in rain fed agriculture. There are several soil and water conservation measures for reduction of runoff and soil loss such as contour farming, contour and graded bunding etc.
