This study shows that Escherichia coli and S.aureus are the commonest pathogenic organisms associated with the surgical site infection. Isolation of CONS in high cases shows breach in asepsis protocols. Appropriate hand hygiene, strict infection control practice will reduce the rate of SSI, cost of treatment and mortality and morbidity of patients.

Blood stream infections are very common in paediatric age group and are one of the common causes of morbidity and mortality. Septicaemia gradually leads to serious consequences like shock, multi organ failure, DIC etc. Timely identification of causative pathogen by blood culture (gold standard) is important. Antibiogram also helps us to elevate consciousness on resistance problems and recognise prospect to decrease the use of inappropriate antibiotics. The study was undertaken to evaluate major bacterial isolates causing septicaemia and their antibiogram pattern.

Aim of the study is to identify uropathogens causing urinary tract infection. To detect ESBLs, MBLs, AmpC producing isolates from urine. Cross sectional study of 300 urine samples was conducted in Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences. The samples were processed and gram negative bacilli were identified as per Mackie McCarteny 14th edition. Detection of ESBLs, MBLs and AmpCs producing organisms among the isolates was done by both screening and confirmatory test as per CLSI guidelines.

Pus culture, Sensitivity, Resistance, MRSA, ESBL. The aim of the study was to determine the commonly isolated aerobic microorganisms found in pus samples and their antibiotic sensitivity pattern. This study was conducted in the Government Medical College Hospital, Thoothukudi from January to December 2016. Pus samples received from various departments are processed by standard protocols. Antibiotic susceptibility was done by Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method.

The main aim of this study to determine the Bacteriological profile in patients with Complicated Urinary Tract Infection and determine the Antibiotic susceptibility pattern using Kirby Bauer Disc diffusion method. Also identify the prevalence of ESBL in E. coli and Klebsiella spp by screening and phenotypic confirmatory methods. Finally, analyse the drug resistant pattern in uropathogens in cUTI.

Neonatal sepsis refers to systemic and generalized infection of the newborn which is documented by a positive blood culture in the first four weeks of life. It is one of the four leading causes of neonatal mortality in India, to isolate bacterial pathogens in neonates with clinical suspicion of sepsis from blood samples and to study their antimicrobial susceptibility pattern. Blood samples collected from 1072 neonates with suspected sepsis were processed. Out of 1072 neonates 231(21.54%) were culture positive.

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an inflammatory response of the urothelium to bacterial invasion that is usually associated with bacteriuria and pyuria. UTI is upto three times more common in diabetic than in non- diabetic women and increases with age. Urine from 60 diabetic patients with UTI was collected and subjected to Gram staining, culture & sensitivity by routine methods.

Surgical site infection(SSI) is among the most common causes of nosocomial infections in the literature. SSI increases the financial burden, length of hospital stays and significant morbidity and mortality of the patient. These infections have a tremendous impact on morbidity and mortality as SSIs doubled the patient’s risk of death after surgery Therefore despite all recent advances, SSI still continue to be a major problem in the hospitals even with all available modern facilities.

Neonatal septicemia is a clinically diagnosed condition having diverse etiology and changing antibiotic sensitivity pattern. The knowledge of common bacterial agents causing septicemia and their antibiogram is useful in deciding empirical antimicrobial therapy. The neonatal blood cultures were studied to know the bacterial species and their antibiotic sensitivity pattern. Aim of the study is to evaluate sensitivity pattern of bacterial isolates causing neonatal septicemia and to know clinical outcome of the cases.

Surgical site infections pose a major threat to the morbidity of immunosuppressed patients. They lead to increased hospital stay, delayed recovery, increased treatment cost and a high risk of spread of Nosocomial infections. The present study was conducted to identify the post-operative wound infection rate, to isolate and identify the bacterial pathogens and to determine its antibiotic susceptibility pattern. Total 70 pus samples were collected from patients having post-operative wound infections out of 716 operations performed during January to December, 2016.

Diabetic foot ulcer is one of the dreaded complications of uncontrolled diabetic mellitus, leading to consequences like gangrene and amputation of foot. This study was conducted as an endeavor to scrutinise the major genera of bacteria which were in association with the infected diabetic foot ulcers and their antibiotic sensitivity pattern. This prospective analytical study included 100 samples from diabetic foot ulcer patients. Isolation and identification of organism were done based on standard laboratory technique.
