The presence of dicumyl peroxide (DCP) causes the changes in relative melt viscovity and the morphology of blend LLDPE/EVA. It raises torque momen amplitude of polymer blend at the balance state of melting of the polymers mixture. The results of TGA show that the durability against thermo-oxidation of polymer blend containing DCP is higher than that of without DCP. The SEM photographs also shows that DCP makes LLDPE and EVA phases dispersing into each other better than the original polymer blend.

To establish stable cell lines that produce recombinant multisubunit proteins, it is usually necessary to cotransfect cells with several independent gene constructs. Here, we show that a stepwise fusion of individually transfected cells, results in a fused cell-line that secretes a complete multisubunit protein. Functional expression of recombinant multisubunit proteins may require a defined expression ratio between each protein subunit. The cell-fusion technology described allows a predefined expression level of each subunit.

Modelling of the fluxes in central metabolism can be performed by combining labelling experiments with metabolite balancing. Using this approach, multiple samples from a cultivation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in metabolic and isotopic steady state were analysed, and the metabolic fluxes in central metabolism were estimated. In the various samples, the estimates of the central metabolic pathways, the tricarboxylic acid cycle, the oxidative pentose phosphate pathway and the anaplerotic pathway, showed an unprecedented reproducibility....

The cloned guinea-pig Y2 neuropeptide Y (NPY) receptors expressed in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells, as well as the Y2 receptors natively expressed in rat forebrain, are distributed in two populations. A smaller population that is readily accessed by agonist peptides on the surface of intact cells constitutes less than 30% of Y2 receptors detected in particulates after cell homogenization. A much larger fraction of cell surface Y2 sites can be activated by sulfhydryl modifiers.

The currently applied reaction structure in stoichiometric flux balance mod-els for the nonoxidative branch of the pentose phosphate pathway is not in accordance with the established ping-pong kinetic mechanism of the enzymes transketolase (EC 2.2.1.1) and transaldolase (EC 2.2.1.2). Based upon the ping-pong mechanism, the traditional reactions of the nonoxida-tive branch of the pentose phosphate pathway are replaced by metabolite specific, reversible, glycolaldehyde moiety (C2 ) and dihydroxyacetone moi-ety (C3) fragments producing and consuming half-reactions. ...

Both hypoxia and hyperoxia, deregulating the oxidative balance, may play a role in the pathology of neurodegenerative disorders underlain by cerebral ischemia. In the present study, quantitative proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy was used to evaluate regional metabolic alterations, following a 24-hour hypoxic or hyperoxic exposure on the background of ischemic brain insult, in two
