The paper "Policy uncertainty, market discipline and bank stability: Investigation from supply-side effect" uses the most up-to-date data from U.S. banks to investigate the impact of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) on bank stability. The results reveal that elevated uncertainty makes banks more fragile and prone to crash events through profitability erosion, capital buffer, and exacerbating return volatility. This negative impact of EPU is more pronounced for highly risky and large-size banks.

In addition to the role of river flow, it is strongly influenced by marine dynamics. The erosion and accretion activities occur mainly in estuaries. The results above show trend of river development: i) Meandering channel is the most vulnerable to changes for morphology of channel by erosion and accretion of sediment and can create 1–2 horseshoe pools by the river change line; ii) Braided channel mainly changes in the bottom of channel by the formation of channel bar; iii) Straight channel mainly changes in the estuary (the mouth of the river can be moved, enlarged or narrowed).

This study demonstrated the prominent role of river meandering in erosion in An Giang province, but the erosion rates of river banks varied largely in time and space because this process is a composition of hydrological and sedimentation alterations due to upstream damming, sand mining, and a tropical cyclone. Hence, the results of this study would meaningfully verify and explain corresponding mechanisms/causes in other related study areas.

The Waeriuapa is the main river in the Wae Riuapa watershed which is widely used for agricultural irrigation, fishery cultivation ponds and domestic needs such as bathing and washing. As a flowing open-water ecosystem, the Riuapa river receives external disposals starting from upstream to downstream in the form of domestic waste, industrial waste, agricultural waste and from natural disasters such as erosion and landslides.

Understanding the basic causes, recognizing the continuous trends, or proposing the effective and feasible response solutions are the most important problems for the local people and the authorities, those of the Central Government and the those in the localities. Therefore, we must prepare for river banks’ or coastlines’ and valuable materials’ or entities’ protection, plan and stabilize the populated areas along the river banks and coasts, especially in the high-risk erosion areas. These are the major contents that would be presented as follow.

In recent years, Nhat Le estuary has been accreted due to the development of a spit bar in the south bank, which obstructs the waterway navigation, the flood drainage and causes erosion in the north bank endangering the infrastructures of Dong Hoi city. This study shows the simulation of short-term and long term bed level changes in 10, 50 and 100 years of the estuary and the impacts of applied structural solutions using Delft3D, a model developed by Delft Hydraulics.

Since the 1930s, the USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) Forest Service’s International Institute of Tropical Forestry (the Institute) has studied mahogany and its management. In the 1960s, F.B. Lamb, the author of the classic book on mahogany (1966), was an Institute collaborator. Before gene flow and genetic erosion became popular terms, my predecessor Frank Wadsworth established a gene bank at the Luquillo Experimental Forest.
