The paper provides an elementary derivation of new superluminal spatio-temporal transformations based on the idea that, conceptually and kinematically, each subluminal, luminal and/or superluminal inertial reference frame has, in addition to its relative velocity, its proper specific kinematical parameter, which having the physical dimensions of a constant speed.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) can be defined as a self-configured and infrastructure-less wireless networks to monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure, motion or pollutants and to cooperatively pass their data through the network to a main location or sink where the data can be observed and analysed. A sink or base station acts likean interface between users and the network. One can retrieve required information from the network by injecting queries and gathering results from the sink.

en the space limitations, the added material supplements, expands, and reinforces the ana-lytical methods that were, and continue to be, the main focus of this book. The analytical methods are the foundation of electromagnetics and provide understanding and physical interpretation of electromagnetic phenomena and interactions. Although numerical and computational methods have, especially in the last four decades, played a key role in the solution of complex elec-tromagnetic problems, they are highly dependent on fundamental principles.

LIFE ON EARTH ULTIMATELY DEPENDS ON ENERGY derived from the sun. Photosynthesis is the only process of biological importance that can harvest this energy. In addition, a large fraction of the planet’s energy resources results from photosynthetic activity in either recent or ancient times (fossil fuels). This chapter introduces the basic physical principles that underlie photosynthetic energy storage and the current understanding of the structure and function of the photosynthetic apparatus (Blankenship 2002). The term photosynthesis means literally “synthesis using light.

In Sweden, a largescale experiment with the 'supportive' variant 16 was held. When the driver exceeds local speed limits, the gas pedal would resist with more pressure. However, the driver could overrule ISA by pressing down the gas pedal with more power. The experiment showed a decrease in speed, and a decrease in travelling time. The users reported they were driving safer (or at least feeling so) and smoother. On the other hand, they found driving to become less fun, and had a feeling of being watched all the time.

For the applied economist, the confident and apparently successful application of Keynesian principles to economic policy which occurred in the United States in the 1960s was an event of incomparable significance and satisfaction. These principles led to a set of simple, quantitative relationships between fiscal policy and economic activity generally, the basic logic of which could be (and was) explained to the general public and which could be applied to yield improvements in economic performance benefitting everyone.

Über Schopenhauer: Arthur Schopenhauer (February 22, 1788–September 21, 1860) was a German philosopher known for his atheistic pessimism and philosophical clarity. At age 25, he published his doctoral dissertation, On the Fourfold Root of the Principle of Sufficient Reason, which examined the fundamental question of whether reason alone can unlock answers about the world. Schopenhauer's most influential work, The World as Will and Representation, emphasized the role of man's basic motivation, which Schopenhauer called will.

Mathematical modelling is the process of formulating an abstract model in terms of mathematical language to describe the complex behaviour of a real system. Mathematical models are quantitative models and often expressed in terms of ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations. Mathematical models can also be statistical models, fuzzy logic models and empirical relationships. In fact, any model description using mathematical language can be called a mathematical model.

In recent years, the awareness of water needs and processing requirement has become an increasingly important topic. As the earth's population increases the demand for "clean" water has become an even larger factor in residential as well as industrial and commercial costs. There are now almost no natural water sources that do not require some purific

An equation is a statement of equality: Whatever is on the left-hand side of any equation is equal to whatever is on the right-hand side. The symbols in an algebraic equation usually cannot have arbitrary values if the equality is to hold. To solve an equation is to find the possible values of these symbols. The solution of the equation 5x − 10 = 20 is x = 6 because this is the only value of x for which this equation is a true statement. The algebraic procedures that can be used to solve an equation are all based on the principle that any operation...

This title presents the general principles of instrumentation processes. It explains the theoretical analysis of physical phenomena used by standard sensors and transducers to transform a physical value into an electrical signal. The pre-processing of these signals through electronic circuits – amplification, signal filtering and analog-to-digital conversion – is then detailed, in order to provide useful basic information. Attention is then given to general complex systems.

In response to requests from Congress, NASA asked the National Research Council to undertake a decadal survey of life and physical sciences in microgravity. Developed in consultation with members of the life and physical sciences communities, the guiding principle for the study is to set an agenda for research for the next decade that will allow the use of the space environment to solve complex problems in life and physical sciences so as to deliver both new knowledge and practical benefits for humankind as we become a spacefaring people.
