A long term field experiment was conducted since kharif 2015 for evaluating the effect of inorganic and organic sources of nutrients on soil physical properties and productivity on direct seeded rice ( Oryza satia L.) – MTU1010 under rainfed midland situation at Bastar plateau zone at S. G. College of Agriculture and Research Station, Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. Random block design was used with twelve treatments and four replications to carry out experiment. The full recommended dose of fertilizer for rice crop was 100kg ha-1 Nitrogen, 60 kg ha-1 phosphorus and 40 kg ha-1.

The experiment was laid out in split plot design with two factors namely, tillage practices and different conservation farming split with three replications. The treatment consisted of three tillage practices viz. T1- Conventional tillage, T2 –Minimum tillage and T3 – Summer plouging and five conservation farming viz. C1-Opening conservation, C2- Intercropping with redgram, C3-Mulching, C4-Herbicide application, C5-Combination of all treatments (C1+C2+C3+C4). Observations of crops are analyzed in Split plot design having three replications.

Millet has emerged as one of the most suitable alternative to minor millet and minor pulses in Bastar plateau zone of Bastar district at Chhattisgarh. However, the productivity of small millet in the Bastar plateau zone is very low. One of the major constraints of traditional millet farming is low productivity due to lack of recommended package of practices and high yielding varieties. To replace this inconsistency of practices, SG College of Agriculture and Research under AICRPSM, Jagdalpur conducted experiments in the farmer’s field.

This study was conducted in two districts of Bastar plateau agro-climatic zone, which covers 28% of the total geographical area of Chhattisgarh State. Two blocks were selected from each district of Bastar plateau purposely. Three villages were selected from each block and ten respondents randomly selected from each village, total of 120. The objective of this study was to analyze the status of farm mechanization under the animal farming and identification of availability of draught animal and animal-drawn farm implements with their utilization for agricultural operations.

More than 50 species of wetland dependent birds have been observed roosting and breeding in the lake (pers. obsv.). Some of the submerged and emergent hydrophytes along the littoral and little above the littoral zone in the lake are Hydrilla verticillata, Potamogeton sp., Nelumbo nucifera, Lotus stellata, Typha angustifolia and Oryza rufipogon. On 2 January 2015, a juvenile and three adult individuals of Ruddy-breasted Crake Porzana fusca were sighted in the marsh and swampy area to the littoral zone of the Dalpat Sagar Lake upon entry from its South-eastern direction.

An investigation under multiplication trial (MLT) was conducted to evaluate the entries of Dioscorea alata locally known as Ratalu and Nagar Kanda under different agroclimatic zones of Chhattisgarh in rainfed condition to identify the high tuber yielding genotype of Ratalu. The experiment was conducted during Kharif 2015-16 and 2016-17 at five locations under Bastar Plateau, Northern Hill Region and Plains of Chhattisgarh with five genotypes including standard and local check under AICRP on Tuber Crops. The locations were the replications in the experiment.

Soil test crop response correlation study was carried out in midland inceptisols of Bastar plateau zone of Chhattisgarh (India) during 2012-13 taking potato (kufri pukhraj) as test crop to quantify production in the context of the variability of soil properties and recommendation of balanced fertilizers with organic manure based on targeted yield concept. The basic data required for formulation of fertilizer recommendation is derived from this experiment. Nutrient required to produce one quintal of potato tuber was found to be 0.48 kg N, 0.11 kg P and 0.52 kg K, respectively.

Resistance to bacterial wilt of brinjal disease incited by Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith) is very common in Bastar plateau of Chhattisgarh state. To identify the resistant sources against bacterial disease of few brinjal varieties and hybrids were screened in artificially inoculated in soil under pot culture. Observations on per cent plant mortality were recorded starting from 25 days after transplanting till 95 days interval of 10 days. The plants showing symptoms were examined using ooze test to confirm the disease.

The experiment was conducted at New Upland Research Station cum Instructional Farm, Lamker under SG College of Agriculture and Research Station, Jagdalpur (CG) during Kharif season 2018. Experiment was laid out in split plot design with three replications. Main plot was three levels of fertilizer and sub plot consists of four planting geometry. One year experiment shows that plant growth characters, yield attributing characters, fodder yield and grain yield recorded significantly higher in treatment F3 (125% RDF) than the F1 (75% RDF) and F2 (100% RDF) during experimentation.
