  • In this paper, the free vibration of a bi-directional functionally graded (2D-FG) nanobeams is investigated by the finite element method. Nanobeams are made of two kinds of porous materials. The material properties of 2D-FG nanobeams are assumed to vary in both axial and thickness directions according to a power law . Based on Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory, the governing equations of motion are derived.

  • Large deflections of functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) sandwich beams are studied in this paper by a nonlinear finite element procedure. The core of the beams is homogeneous while the two faces are of CNTRC material. The effective properties of the two CNTRC face sheets are determined by an extended rule of mixture. CNTs are reinforced into matrix phase through uniform distribution (UD) or four different types of functionally graded (FG) distribution, named as FG-X, FG-A, FG-V, FG-O.

  • The paper "Dynamic response analysis of nanobeams resting on elastic foundations" uses the finite element method to study the dynamic response of nanobeams resting on an elastic foundation, taking into account the flexoelectricity effect. Timoshenko's first-order shear deformation theory is used to derive the formulations of the beam's forced vibration equation. The proposed theory and mechanical model are verified by comparing the numerical results of this work with those of the published data.

  • The paper "The behavior analysis of bolted end-plate connections under static load by using finite element method" investigates the mechanical behavior of bolted end-plate beam-to- column connections with changes of thin of end-plate and size of bolts under bending moment. The finite element models are generated in ANSYS software, in specially all of meshes are hexahedral meshes as well as be continuous at welding. The results obtained from this study are validated based on three factors: loading capacity, moment resistance and joint rotation.

  • An approach on the prediction of sound transmission loss for finite clamped composite sandwich plates with foam core is described in the paper. Sandwich plates are treated as being orthotropic and the apparent bending stiffness is calculated for the two principle directions. The apparent bending stiffness of sandwich plate is estimated by finite element calculation on beam elements cut from the sandwich plate.
