Bearing dislocation
-
Bearing dislocation is the main complication after mobile bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty. The purpose of this study was to analyze the potential risk factors of bearing dislocation after Oxford phase III mobile bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty in Chinese patients.

Using data from the Korean Hip Registry, we aimed to investigate mid-term clinical and radiographic outcomes, including the prevalence of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI), osteolysis, and component loosening or dislocation, and to analyze the incidence of bearing-related complications following modern ceramic-on-ceramic (COC) total hip arthroplasty (THA) using a single cementless hip system.

There are no previous reports on the complications around the femoral component of cementless Oxford unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA). However, we experienced two cases of femoral migration to the proximal side, which caused bearing dislocations after cementless Oxford UKA.

A 1.5 years old male rabbit was presented to Orthopaedics Unit, Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Madras Veterinary College Teaching Hospital with the history of non-weight bearing lameness on left hindlimb. Clinical examination revealed pain, crepitus and a punctured wound on the tibiotalar joint. Orthogonal view of plain radiography of left hindlimb revealed postero-lateral tibiotalar dislocation. Under general anesthesia, tibiotalar joint was stabilised with intramedullary pin. Arthrodesis at the tibiotalar joint was achieved at 8th week postoperatively.

Arthroplasty is one of the most dynamic and rapidly expanding spheres of orthopedics and medical science. The successive stages of development of the technique of joint replacement include introduction of uncemented implants, emergence of biomaterials and ceramics, and evolution of bearing surfaces. Last but not least, credit to the success of arthroplasty is attrib‐ uted to continuous improvements in surgical technique and introduction of mini-invasive techniques during the last decade.
