The study assessed youth’s participation in beef production activities in Osun State, Nigeria. The study was conducted in purposively selected areas of the state where beef production activities predominate. A validated interview schedule was used to elicit information from one hundred and eight youths in different abattoirs in the study area.

Agriculture in Vietnam is on a long and continuing transition from subsistence livelihood activities to commercial agriculture. The extent of the commerciality can be measured in regard to both inputs and outputs. Data from the North Central Coast of Vietnam indicates high commerciality for rubber, production forestry, cassava, beef, and dairy.

Proteases are one of the most important groups of enzymes with wide range of industrial applications. The soil isolate Bacillus cereusAG1 produced alkaline protease under submerged cultivation condition. Maximum production of enzyme was achieved at pH 10.0 and temperature 30oC at 120 rpm. The supplementation of fructose as carbon source and combination of beef extract, yeast extract and peptone as nitrogen source improved enzyme production by 1.39 times.

Microbial phytases are of immense importance due to their application in food/feed industry by enhancing the availability of essential minerals such as phosphorous, iron, calcium etc. required for normal human physiology and also have commercial and environment significance. Therefore, in present study an attempt was made to enhance the production of phytase from isolated probiotic Pediococcus acidilactici BNS5B by employing both one variable at a time approach and statistically based design of experiments such as Plackett-Burman and Response Surface Methodology.
