In this article, the authors propose a theoretical approach based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory to determine the bending capacity of composite girders. This approach considers the assumptions of plane sections remaining plane and infinitesimal strains during bending.

The paper "The behavior analysis of bolted end-plate connections under static load by using finite element method" investigates the mechanical behavior of bolted end-plate beam-to- column connections with changes of thin of end-plate and size of bolts under bending moment. The finite element models are generated in ANSYS software, in specially all of meshes are hexahedral meshes as well as be continuous at welding. The results obtained from this study are validated based on three factors: loading capacity, moment resistance and joint rotation.

This this paper, optimization of ultimate bearing capacity of river-to-sea ships structure based on structural analysis using finite element method. The ultimate strength of the hull girder, and calculates the ultimate strength bending moment of the hull girder when B/D = 3.0 and B/D = 3.5 with the calculation program based on finite element method (B is breadth of the ship, D is depth of the ship).

Structural steel pipes have been applied commonly in the bridge construction for foundations or piers with many advantages such as large bending capacity, high shear resistance, and rapid construction. However, site welded joints may face critical technical matters which need to be considered for steel pipe piers during construction stage.

The dependence of load-carrying capacity on span length of beams, which contained a combination of normal strength concrete (NC) - High-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (HPFRC), was investigated in this study. The used HPFRC contained 1.0 vol.% long hooked blended with 0.5% short smooth fibers. Two types of span length were designed as 300 mm and 450 mm while dimensions of beam sections were identical with depth × width of 150 × 150 mm2.

In the ultimate limit state design of ship hulls, the safety and economy have the most important position in the whole design of ship structures. In this paper, ultimate strength of ship hull has been calculated by using the finite-element software. The modeling method which is suitable for ultimate strength calculation is gained. At the same time, ultimate loading capacity’s variation of series bulk carriers with length is gained.

Many offshore structures are subjected to overturning moments due to wind load, wave pressure, and ship impacts. Also most of retaining walls are subjected to horizontal forces and bending moments, these forces are due to earth pressure. For foundations in such structures, usually a combination of vertical and batter piles is used. Little information is available in the literature about estimating the capacity of piles under uplift. In cases where these supporting piles are not vertical, the behavior under axial pullout is not well established.

The present study examined the bending moment capacity and rigidity of T-type out-of-plane furniture joints and investigated the effects of heat treatment, wood species, and joint type factors on these joints. Heat treatment method clearly decreased the modulus of rupture (MOR) and the modulus of elasticity (MOE) of selected wood species.
