Binding energy of exciton
-
Zinc oxide (ZnO) is one of the most promising oxide possibilities for use in a number of industries due to its unique properties. Because of its broad direct bandgap (3.37 eV) and strong exciton binding energy (60 meV) at ambient temperature, ZnO not only conducts electricity well but also transmits visible light and emits UV light.

The binding energy of exciton in quantum dots with a parabolic confinement potential was calculated by variational methods beyond the Kohn-Luttinger effective mass theory, when the central-cell correction was taken into account. We have assumed that a short range potential with two parameters for strength and range for exciton, representing the center-cell effect also depends on dot size. Our result is in good agreement with experiment.

The Yukawa - like screening potential is suggested to describe the effect of environment on the binding energy of an exciton in the monolayer semiconductor WS2. The FK Operator Method combined with the Levi-Civita transformation is used to retrieve energies for the states of n= 1, 2, 3 which agree with experimental data.

The FK Operator Method combined with the Levi-Civita transformation is used to retrieve energies for the states of n= 1, 2, 3 which agree with experimental data. Experimental values of the parameters in the screening potential expression are also obtained for further use in the case of presence of external field
