The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the effect of bio resources and citral essential oil compound against cercospora leaf spot and yield characters of beetroot in field conditions. Also to evaluate the effect of citral essential oil compound against radial growth of Cercospora beticola in in vitro.

Continuous use of chemical fertilizers without organic sources poses soil health issues whereas organic manures using alone without inorganics could not be able to fulfill the requirement of high nutrient demanding crops due to the bulk and slow-acting nature of these organic fertilizer sources. However, neither organic fertilizers nor inorganic fertilizers alone can maintain productivity. The major yield limiting factors in crops production in Indian soils are NPS deficiencies.

Plants are not capable of running away from their enemies, i.e., the herbivores that may eat them. However, under certain circumstances, plants can rely on the natural enemies of insect herbivores for protection. These natural enemies include other insects that are predators and parasitoids. Habitat manipulation, which is also referred to as “Ecological Engineering”, focuses on reducing mortality of natural enemies, providing the supplementary resources and manipulating host plant attributes for the benefit of natural bio-agents.

The experiment on management of early blight of tomato with the new combi molecule was conducted during Kharif 2018 in the bio-resource farm of Institute of organic farming, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. The new molecule and market sample of Trifloxystrobin 25%+Tebuconazole 50% WG, Azoxystrobin 23% SC, Copper Oxychloride 50% WP were evaluated against early blight incidence. The above chemicals sprayed two times at 15 days interval.

Use of biocontrol agent to increase the growth of crop has been an alternative source to meet the demand of growing population. Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are the soil bacteria inhabiting around/on the root surface and are directly or indirectly involved in promoting plant growth and development via production and secretion of various regulatory chemicals in the locality of rhizosphere. These bacteria competitively colonize the roots of plants and can act as biofertilizers and/or antagonist (biopesticides) or simultaneously both.
