Brinjal or eggplant is the fourth most important vegetable crop in India in terms of production; India being its second highest producing country with 23.7% of world’s total share. Collar rot disease is proving to be a constraint for brinjal production with yield losses upto 30%. The pathogen Sclerotium rolfsii is able to attack all stages of the crop and is difficult to manage. A study was undertaken to investigate the efficacy of botanicals and bioagents in the management of the disease.

For this study, disease infected leaf samples were collected from pulse pathology block situated at Normon E. Borlaug Crop Research Centre, Pantnagar based on cultural, morphological and disease potential studies and then evaluated the pathogen against five botanicals viz. Calotropis, Ocimum, Aloevera, Neem and Bael at 5, 15, 25 and 35 per cent concentration through poison food technique and two bioagents viz.

Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill.] is an important oilseed crop. Colletotrichum truncatum, the incitant of anthracnose/ pod blight in soybean is one of the most destructive pathogens. Eight fungicides (@ 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500ppm each), 10 botanicals@ 10% and four bioagents were evaluated in vitro against C. truncatum, using PDA as basal medium. The results revealed that all the fungicides, botanicals and bioagents tested were found fungistatic and significantly inhibited the mycelial growth of the test pathogen over untreated control.

To manage the disease an investigation at the Department of Plant Pathology, SHIATS-DU, Allahabad was carried out to evaluate the effect of bio-agents viz. Trichoderma viride @ 2%, Pseudomonas fluorescens @ 2%, T. harzianum @ 2%, botanical viz. neem leaf extract @ 5%, neem oil @ 5% and fungicide viz. carbendazim @ 0.2% against R. solani under invitro condition by dual culture and poisoned food technique. All the bioagents and botanical were evaluated singly. All the treatments significantly inhibited the mycelial growth of R. solani as compared to untreated check.

Early blight is potentially destructive disease in tomato occurring on the oldest leaves as small, brownish which are due to foliar blight disease and it was caused by a foliar fungal pathogen Alternaria solani. The disease causes considerable yield as well as post-harvest losses. A. solani produced blackish, fluffy mycelium with septate, beaked conidia on PDA Eight plant extracts and four biocontrol agents were evaluated following poison food technique and dual culture.

The present study was carried out to find the integrated management of early blight of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) caused by Alternaria solani. Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) is an important vegetable crop which is grown all over the world. Early blight of tomato, caused by Alternaria solani is one of the most important diseases in tomato. Two fungicides i.e. Mancozeb 75 WP and Hexaconazole 5 EC at different concentrations (0.1%, 0.2% and 0.3%), two bio-agents viz., Trichoderma harzianum and T. koningii and two botanicals i.e.

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of bioagents and botanicals in vivo during kharif, 2017 to manage anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum capsici on chilli (Capsicum annuum L.).The anthracnose of chilli is one of the most devastating diseases. The various factors viz. nutritional, physical and toxicological factor showed wide variation on growth and sporulation of C. capsici. The effect of treatments on anthracnose disease management of chilli in field condition revealed that all the treatments showed significant reduction in the intensity and over control.

Onion (Allium cepa L.) is the important vegetable crop. Under favourable condition onion is attacked by various diseases. Out of which, purple blotch is caused by Alternaria porri and is one of the predominant disease of onion. In the present studies, efficacy of bioagents, botanicals and fungicides were tested against Alternaria porri in vitro and toxigenic potential of Alternaria porri. Among the fungicides, Thiram+Carboxin and Propineb (0.3%) has shown 100% mycelial inhibition of Alternaria porri. Maximum mycelial inhibition of Alternaria porri was observed with Ocimum sanctum (60.
