Biodiversity values

This paper provides information about effect of elevation on plant diversity in Ba Vi National Park which has 3 types of natural forest and 2 types of artificial one. Plant composition is different among the elevation of Ba Vi National Park not only by number of plant species in general but also about high conservation value species.

The present study aims to determine the role of the carbon source from mangroves to provide the organic matter in intertidal sediments by the stable isotopes approach. The present results suggested that mangroves are important in accumulating organic carbon and fine–grained sediments in the Tien Yen Bay, contributing important values to climate change mitigation and maintaining biodiversity in this area.

The heterotrophic dinoflagellate Noctiluca scintillans was a major component of plankton samples in the Sinop region, presenting its highest values in April 2005. Mesozooplankton abundance values showed significant differences (except 2007–2009 and 2008–2009) during the 5-year sampling period. Since the middle of 2006, an increase in abundance, biomass, and biodiversity of mesozooplankton has been detected. Many mesozooplanktonic species/groups showed seasonality in the study (especially Cladocera species). This seasonality was determined to be based on temperature changes.

Freshwater ecosystems have a greater value for biodiversity per surface area than terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Streams and lakes are notably prone to biodiversity loss, being the greatest threats habitat destructions and nonnative species. The aim of the present study is to assess the fish composition of lotic and lentic water systems of an island ecosystem (Gökçeada Island, Turkey), which is poorly studied, and to highlight the entry routes and possible impacts of translocated fish species in an island ecosystem.

Farinograph values on the contrary, showed the good quality of standard flour but parameter water absorption was better with addition of oat flour due to non-starch polysaccharides presented in oat. Extensograph device showed that increasing addition of oat flour decreased resistance to extension. Colorant cereals generally can increase biodiversity in agriculture, and can be attractive raw materials for production foods with added value.

Biodiversity of diatoms and applicability of diatom indices in biomonitoring based on littoral epiphytic samples of Lake Modrac were investigated. Diatoms were taken mostly from Phragmites australis stems in 2017, during which physical and chemical parameters of the water were measured. A total of 85 diatom taxa were identified. Gomphonema (13 spp.), Navicula (11 spp.), and Nitzschia (8 spp.) were the most abundant genera.

Until now, data on zoobenthos in the Mekong Delta has been very limited. Prior research has focused mostly on species of economic value such as the Red chut-chut snails. In this research, we investigated species composition and distribution of Brachyura, Bivals and Gastropods in the Tran De Estuary Mangrove forests in Soc Trang province between June and December, 2011, to discover the extent of zoobenthos biodiversity.

The studies on the impact of the ENSO phenomenon on climate and environment change have shown that the Bien Dong (Southeast Asia Sea) is strongly influenced by this phenomenon. This paper focuses on analyzing sea surface temperature (SST) monthly data for 16 years (7/2002–12/2017) in the coastal waters of Vietnam from MODIS satellite images of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (US NASA). The analysis results showed a clear pattern of ENSO impacts on SST in the coastal waters of Vietnam.

The difference in the quality of the trees between the four states was really significant, as the Sig value of the Chi-square test is 0.000 (less than 0.05). Stages IIA and IIB had mainly species of pioneer species, while IIIA1 and IIIA3 had more shade tolerant species. Stage IIIA3 had the highest level of species diversity.

This paper presents the study on valuation of non use values of the Can Gio mangrove biosphere reserve, Ho Chi Minh City. The results show that the non use value of the study area is approximately VND 105 billion per year. The paper also shows the recommendations for managers, policy-makers and researchers in the conservation and sustainable use of resources’s Can Gio mangrove ecosystem in the context of climate change and sea level rise.

The present research paper describes the sacred plants found in the vicinity of five major temples of Bhopal, India. In addition, the ethnomedicinal and ecological values of these plants were also reported. The information was obtained from priests and knowledgeable local people about the sacred value of plants associated with religious rituals. A total of 13 sacred plants species belonging to 10 families were identified during the survey. The study concludes that propagation of sacred plants contributes to the conservation of floral diversity.

The objective of this study is to measure the floristic diversity in coffee agroforests and adjoining forests as well to know the effect of different landholding sizes of coffee farms in Kodagu district, Western Ghats of Karnataka. We collected the data on trees, shrubs and herbs from 50 sample plots of 0.16 ha. Each and analyzed for various diversity parameters. Results revealed that Shannon’s (H') was highest in adjoining forests (2.48) compared to that of coffee agroforests (1.92). The conservation efforts by Kadilangu community have produced the enhancement of mangrove forest areas, however the utilization of mangrove forest by people around was limited. The conservation effort was analyzed descriptively based on Indonesia Government Rule Number 5 in 1990 and Number 32 in 2004. To make the conservation effort sustainable, it needs to develop community-based ecotourism (CBET) at Kadilangu mangrove forest, so as they can utilize mangrove forest benefits.
