Biofertilizers on plant growth
-
Developing new biofertilizers has been an area of great interest in modern agriculture. This study focused on actinobacteria possessing high chitinase activity, biofilm formation, plant growth promotion, and antifungal activity. Two chitinolytic actinomyces strains, YSS-3.3 and YWS-5.1, were isolated from soil and chitin flake samples collected from Yok Don National Park in the Central Highlands, Vietnam.

There are numerous disadvantages of chemical fertilizer as the soil can take really long to replenish and attain its natural form. Soil need to be fit as it is most important factor for growth of plant. Due to the decrease in soil quality farmers have started using alternate substances such as biofertilzers which provide right amount of nutrients and are eco-friendly.

The experiment consisted of three levels of nitrogen (90,120 and 150 kg ha1 ) with basal application of P2O5 and K2O each at 60 kg ha-1 and zinc at 15kg ha-1 (basal application) or 0.5% ZnSO4 (foliar spray) and inoculated with Azotobacter or Azospirillum. Highest number of cobs plant-1 , plant height, dry weight, grains cob-1 and grain yield was recorded in the plots treated with 150 kg ha-1 N + 15 kg ZnSO4 basal along with seed inoculation with Azospirillum 20 g per kg seeds.

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of organic manures and bio-fertilizers on the growth, yield and quality of chilli cv. Pusa Jwala. The experiments were conducted in Randomized Block Design with three replication. Among the various thirteen treatments, the combination of poultry manure + Azotobactor + Phosphotika stimulated better response. The growth, yield, ascorbic acid, TSS and NPK uptake by chilli plants were influenced by the application of organic manures and biofertilizers in combination.

Phosphorous (P), an essential nutrient element is the second most important element after nitrogen. It is unavailable to plants because in the soil it is mostly present in the fixed form. Soil bacteria having the phosphate solubilizing capacity are called as Phosphate Solubilising Bacteria (PSB). They convert the insoluble phosphate into soluble form through the production of organic acids and make it available for plant uptake and nutrition. They are also useful as biofertilizers as they belong to the plant growth promoting Rhizobacteria.

After acclimatization stage, plants were inoculated with various doses of Arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi (AMF). AMF inoculum consisted of a mixture of Glomus etunicatum, Glomus intraradices and Glomus monosporum spores at concentration of 250spore/ml. After 20 weeks, vegetative growth parameters, root parameters, mineral content and protein were determined.
