  • Studies were undertaken to elicit information on performance of Bambusa balcooa and Bambusa vulgaris across five agro climatic regions as well as different age gradations, association among the biometric attributes. Bambusa balcooa proved its significant phenotypic superiority in terms of all the biometric attributes studied. The performance of Bambusa balcooa across the agro climatic regions viz., North Eastern Zone, Northern Zone, Western Zone, Cauvery Delta Zone and Southern Zone was also consistent and higher than the Bambusa vulgaris and Bambusa bambos.

  • An attempt has been made in the present investigation to assess the influence of various biometrical characters across different growth stages in Brinjal crop yield along with various yield attributing characters across four growth stages using ANN models. Results of seedling stage had indicated that plant height, girth and number of primary branches could together predict the crop yield to an extent of 83 % for training set and 62 % for validation of model accuracy.

  • Genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance of yield attributing characters and their association among them on yield are paramount importance for crop improvement. Correlation and path analysis are important biometrical tools for getting information regarding inter-relationship among various traits used in selection programme. In the present study, twelve yield and yield related parameters have been studied in 374 diverse genotypes of greengram.

  • Investigations were carried out to draw out information in 30 progenies of Ailanthus excelsa Roxb. genetic resources to elicit information on the Variability, Heritability and Genetic advance among the biometric and physiological attributes. The number of branches registered maximum PCV and GCV followed by volume index, plant height and basal diameter and chlorophyll ‘a’, chlorophyll ‘b’, chlorophyll a/b ratio and total chlorophyll content had recorded low phenotypic coefficient of variation and genotypic coefficient of variation.

  • The present study was undertaken with a view to study the effect of different level of irrigation on biometric parameters of rice crop such as growth, yield and yield attributes and water use efficiency under surface and subsurface drip irrigation. The results shows that the biometric parameters such as plant height, number of tillers per plant, plant dry matter and LAI for rice crop were found maximum in the treatments T3 (subsurface drip) and T8 (conventional irrigation). Water supply to the crops was significantly higher in the treatment T8 as compared to other treatments.
