An investigation was undertaken to detect the genetic architecture of resistance of maize Turcicum leaf blight using six generation mean analysis in the two crosses viz., B-104 × CML-124 (C-I) and CML-124 × B-104 (C-II) at College of Agriculture, V. C. Farm, Mandya during Kharif 2014-15.

The bread wheat is one of the most important crop providing one-fifth of total calories for world’s population. Growth in population is increasing the demand for wheat. Wheat breeders have been concentrated on development of HYV’s (High yielding varieties) which required genetic information (mode of inheritance and gene action parameters of yield components) of parental population. For this purpose diallel analysis used.

Twenty mungbean hybrids were derived five lines, four testers, through linex tester mating design were evaluated to study the magnitude of relative heterosis, heterobeltiosis and standard heterosis for yield and nutritional traits. The magnitude of relative heterosis, heterobeltiosis and standard heterosis observed for seed yield per plant were 57.45, 53.67, and 51.04 respectively. Heterosis for seed yield per plant is manifested through heterotic response for most of the yield contributing traits in additive fashion.

Biparental mating is helpful for creating variability and determines the relative importance of genetic components of variance (additive and dominance components of variance) as well as expected response to selection of a trait in formulating and effective breeding programme for its genetic improvement. Both additive and dominance components of variance shows significance for yield and yield contributing characters.

To study the nature and magnitude of gene effects for yield and its components in sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) we carried out generation mean analysis using the following five crosses of different sesame cultivars: TKG-503 X GT-10; RT-373 X GT-2; JLS-613-1-1 X GT-10; MT-10 X GT-2 and AT-253 X TKG-22. The P1, P2, F1, F2, and F3 of these generations were studied for twelve quantitative traits.
