The aim of this study is to investigate the species composition of bird, their distribution as well as threats to the species and its habitat. Line transect and mist net were used to collect data in the field. The results of the study reveal that there are 209 bird species belonging to 51 families, 17 orders in the park.

This volume has three overlapping themes. First, that chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese and other poultry are fascinating representatives of the world of birds, with biology and behaviour that are novel to those who are mostly familiar with mammals. Part 1 book "Poultry behaviour and welfare" includes content: Origins, biology, causes and effects, maintenance, living in groups, reproduction.

Cathelicidins, a family of host-defence peptides, are present in a diverse range of species, including fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles, and mammals. The evidence for the role of these cationic antimicrobial peptides in innate host defenses is convincing from the data of animal model and transgenic animal experiments as well as wildlife or domestic animals, indicating that the peptides protect against inflammatory and immune system after induction by bacterial infection.

The domestic turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is an important agricultural species that is largely used as a meat-type bird. Characterizing genetic variation in populations of domesticated species and associating these variation patterns with the evolution, domestication, and selective breeding is critical for understanding the dynamics of genomic change in these species.

Populations of common quail (Coturnix coturnix) have recently been declining in Europe. This is the first study of common quail in eastern Europe using molecular markers. The mtDNA D-loop genetic diversity of common quails migrating through Ukraine was analyzed and compared with that of birds migrating via northern Spain in 2017–2018. In samples from 77 birds, 32 polymorphic sites and 30 haplotypes (H1–H30) were identified, only 4 of which were common for birds sampled in both Ukraine and Spain. Phylogenetic analysis indicated 2 well-supported clades.

Sicily (Italy) hosts a “relict”, endemic population of the birds Alectoris graeca whitakeri commonly known as Sicilian Rock Partridge. In the last decades, due to the risk of restocking with other European and Asiatic species for hunting purpose, a study was carried out to investigate the potential risk of hybridisation. The mtDNA control-region and nuclear microsatellites were genotyped. Due to the importance of the species, samples were mainly characterized by feather and stool samples, and rarely by carcasses found in the environment, from year 2011 to 2012.

The study area was visited and surveyed twice in a month. During each visit waterfowl census was carried out and water samples were also collected to document changes in physico-chemical parameters and microbial analysis over the seasons. The aggregation of birds in the area is mainly related to the increase in migratory population of birds during winter. The variations inland bird aggregations as well as physico-chemical factors are discussed.

This study carried out in Puri district of Odisha during June 2015 – May 2016 to determine the species diversity in coconut based agroforestry system in 15 different sizes (0.1 to 1.5 acre) of land holdings. The chosen coconut based agroforestry systems were visited in three cropping seasons such as kharif, rabi and summer and the observations on floral composition, height of plants, number of trees, number of livestock animals and birds, number of common plant species, different seasonal crops, different size of pond and mushroom cultivation were recorded.

A research work to study the richness of arthropod diversity under short duration pigeonpea intercropping systems was carried out at Agricultural Research Farm of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (UP). The faunal composition of insect pests associated with short duration pigeonpea intercropping systems in kharif 2004 and 2005 was of eight orders viz., Orthoptera, Homoptera, Thysanoptera, Lepidoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera and Coleoptera. One bird pest of order Psittaciformes was also recorded.

This Investigation was undertaken in the wetlands farm of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during Thaladi season to study the ecology of birds and insects in inorganic and organic rice ecosystem, with special reference to the species abundance, diversity, richness, evenness and similarity indices. This study revealed that organic cultivation supports bird diversity and beneficial insects. However, the bird menace during maturity stage is an issue to be managed in an ecofriendly way.

Revival of traditional embroidery painting is considered as an important aspect in present scenario. A study was conducted to explore the possibility of adaptation of kathiawar embroidery motifs for fabric painting. Seventy collected kathiawar embroidery motifs were categorized as geometrical, floral and animal & bird motifs and were screened into thirty motifs keeping in mind their suitability for fabric painting on jacket. These three categories included ten motifs each. Thus, a total of thirty motifs were finalized for further research work.

Hot-spot biodiversity is a concentrated site of high species diversity, high species endemicity, and habitat uniqueness. Biodiversity disperses unevenly across the global, regional and regional scope. Hot-spot biodiversity developed into an approach to assessing the concentration of biodiversity at certain limits. The biodiversity hot-spot approach is conducted using indicator species such as bird species that are used as ecotourism development for sustainable forest exploitation.

Numerical simulation of morphology in the tidal environments. It is very important to understand the geomorphic changes in the lagoon to preserve the environment. Dynamic landscapes shaping riparian and aquatic habitats are made up in the complex channel network of the lagoon. And there are a lot of riparian wildlife such a fish and birds in the diverse habitats of it.

Despite occupying only three percent of the earth’s surface, the ASEAN region hosts 20 percent of all known species that live deep in the region’s mountains, jungles, rivers, lakes and seas. The region includes three mega-diverse states (Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines); several bio-geographical units (e.g., Malesia, Wallacea, Sundaland, Indo-Burma and the Central Indo-Pacific); and numerous centers of concentration of restricted-range bird, plant and insect species.

Specific writing prompts administered during testing are developed with the assistance of external prompt writers who are recruited on the basis of their expertise and to reflect the diversity of the populations served by the ACT. ACT prompt writers are male and female educators from both high schools and colleges, and they represent a variety of geographical regions, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and educational philosophies.

The Weidmoos is a bird habitat of European significance. The diverse mosaic of water bodies, muddy areas and reeds provides many species of bird with ideal conditions for breeding and resting. Comparable habitats have all but disappeared in our densely populated and heavily utilised landscape. Over 150 species of bird have so far been confirmed, some of which are endangered on a European level. One of the latter group is the White-spotted Bluethroat, which can frequently be found at the Weidmoos.

The idea that would become the foundation of this book—that indigenous people’s stewardship of the land carries important lessons for us in the mod- ern world—germinated in my mind as I stood in a Mexican farmer’s fields in summer 1983. Growing alongside the many kinds of crop plants were a variety of native herbs and trees. Insects buzzed and clicked, and birds chat- tered. The land smelled good and radiated beauty. The farmer was using the land quite intensively, yet much of the natural plant and animal diversity remained.

Wetland ecosystems are a natural resource of global significance.Historically, their high level of plant and animal (especially bird) diversity is perhaps the major reason why wetland protection has become a high priority worldwide, supported by international agreements, such as the Ramsar Convention and the International Convention of Biological Diversity (Fig. 1.1).
