  • Black gram [Vigna mungo (L)] seeds are a rich source of digestible protein and dietary fibre, both for human and animal consumption. However, the quality and quantity of the Vigna seeds are severely affected by bruchid beetles during storage. Therefore, analyses of the expression of the bruchid induced transcript dynamics in black gram pods would be helpful to understand the underlying defense mechanism against bruchid oviposition.

  • Groundnut is an important oil seed crop in India cultivated in an area of 6.7 million hectares with a production of 7.0 million tonnes annually. The crop can be grown successfully in areas receiving the rainfall ranging from 600 to 1250 mm. The best soils for groundnut crop are sandy loam, loam and medium black with good drainage system. Present practice of manual harvesting and threshing consumes huge amount of labour to a magnitude of about 175 to 200 women h ha-1The highest average effective field capacity obtained using tractor drawn groundnut digger shaker was 0.35 ha h-1 .

  • Among Arid Zone Fruits, tamarind, Tamarindus indica L. of the family Leguminosae is a major fruit crop. Survey was conducted to find out major disease of tamarind and found black pod disease was major constraints. Black pod of tamarind incidence was observed range from 8.00 -22 per cent in pod on tree and incidence in storage was observed 5-22.5 per cent at different location in Jhalawar district during 2013 to 2017. Subsequently, the pathogen was isolated and pure culture of fungus established.
