Blackgram under rainfed condition

Crop productivity of blackgram being low in North eastern dry zone of Karnataka a field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2016 at Agricultural Research Station, Kalaburagi, UAS Raichur, to study the effect of foliar nutrition on physiological parameters and yield of blackgram under rainfed condition using TAU-1 variety.

Green gram (Mungbean) is an important pulse crop of India next to tur and blackgram. It plays an important role in enhancing the income of small and marginal farmers of Southern Karnataka. The production of greengram in district is very less as compared to state and national average. However, the domestic requirements are also higher, due to this greengram is being imported. A field experiment was conducted during Rabi season (2014) at Millet Breeding Station of TNAU, Coimbatore, TamilNadu to evaluate little millet based intercropping system under rainfed condition with five intercrops viz., radish, coriander, small onion, blackgram and greengram in 8:2 ratio under replacement series. Improvement in plant height, DMP, productive tillers plant-1 , grains panicle-1 , thousand grain weight and little millet grain equivalent yield (LMGEY) were recorded in intercropping over sole little millet.

An experiment was carried out at the Instructional-Cum-Research farm, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat during 2013 and 2014 to study the effect of fertility management (F0 - control, F1 - 2.5 t/ha enriched compost, F2 - 5.0 t/ha enriched compost) and weed management (W0-weedy check, W1- hand hoeing and earthing up at 20 and 50 DAS, W2-in situ cowpea mulching upto 50 DAS,W3- in situ blackgram mulching upto 50 DAS) in maize and also to study the carry-over effects of these treatments on the succeeding sesamum crop in a split-plot design with 3 replications.

The experiment was conducted under rainfed condition at Agricultural Research Station, Madhira during early rabi 2016 using thirty five blackgram genotypes as materials with four released varieties viz., MBG207, LBG-752, PU-31 and IPU-2-43 as checks. Estimation of variation, phenotypic and genotypic correlations along with path analysis was calculated for the material under study. Days to maturity showed positive significant association with plant height, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per plant, 100 seed weight, seed yield per plant and seed yield (kg/ha).
