The main aim of this work is to use a finite element method (FEM) based on Shi’s third-order shear deformation plate theory (TSDT) to study the dynamic response of sandwich plates subjected to consecutive blast loading. The sandwich plate has an auxetic honeycomb core and two different functionally graded materials (FGMs) skin layers (so-called h-FGS plates).

This work presents results from a numerical investigation on the influence of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) on the dynamic response of thin steel plates subjected to blast loading. The loading was generated by a shock tube test facility designed to expose structures to blast-like loading conditions. The steel plates had an exposed area of 0.3 m × 0.3 m and experienced large deformations during the tests.

This study analyses eccentrically stiffened sandwich thick plates with the core layer made of negative poisson material. The analytical method based on the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is applied to analyse dynamic response and vibration of the plates.
