  • Molasses is a potential energy supplement; extensively used to improve growth performance, milk and meat characteristics in goats at relatively low concentrations of 5–40% of the diet. Few data are available concerning feeding molasses to goat kids; therefore, the current study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with higher concentrations of molasses on growth performance, blood metabolites and rumen fermentation indices.

  • Milk yield for Holstein cows has doubled over five decades due to genetic selection and changes to management, but the molecular mechanisms that facilitated this increase are mostly unknown. Epigenetic modifications to the cattle genome are a plausible molecular mechanism to cause variation in milk yield and our objective was to describe genome-wide DNA methylation patterns in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from mature Holstein dairy cows with variable milk yield.

  • o investigate the changes that occur in inflammatory mediators and reproductive hormones levels in mastitis crossbred cows, the crossbred cows were screened for SCM incidence (24) by mCMT, SCC, electric conductivity of milk and abnormal milk. Based on this, the cows were divided as group I (n=8) - no clinical symptom of mastitis (healthy), group II (n=8) - showing chronic sub-clinical mastitis (SCM), group III (n=8) - showing clinical mastitis symptoms (CM). Blood samples were collected from group I and II the cows at weekly intervals from day 54 to 138 of lactation.

  • A four years age cow was presented to the Veterinary Clinical Complex (VCC), College of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad with the history of decreased appetite, depression, decreased milk yield and with swollen mammary gland for four days. General clinical examination revealed increased body temperature of 1040 F and palpation of udder revealed swollen udder and animal is feeling pain on touch. Milk was stripped for testing and found flakes and the colour of the milk is yellowish brown.

  • Iron is an essential micro-mineral in human nutrition. It is a mineral found in every cell of the body and required to make part of blood cell. It participates as a catalyst in several metabolic reactions. As a component of haemoglobin, myoglobin, cytochrome and other proteins, iron plays an important role in the transport, storage and utilization of oxygen and cellular proliferation. In this study, an attempt was made to prepare dahi by using 1% starter culture, fortified with iron by using ferrous lactate @ 40 mg/kg milk.

The effect of in vitro proteolysis on allergenicity and development of bitterness was studied using enzymes individually and in combination. Selective proteolysis of WPC was done to 3 and 5 per cent DH. A combination of enzymes was effective in reducing allergenicity at a lower DH. Sensory evaluation of hydrolysates was done to give bitterness scores.
